Unlimited tool budget

Need some tools for PVC conduit.

I carry a flashlight, Q-beam, set of sockets, Pliers and Screwdrivers and tire plugs and a gallon of coolant. I would like to get some starter contacts to have and even heard of an (old) spare fuel lift pump

What do you carry and what have you needed and didnt have.

I was stuck on the side of the freeway one day with a stock jack and a lg screwdriver that I used to lower my tire and had to use to jack up the truck with a 4-way that wouldnt fit. :mad: :mad:

I know carry a hydraulic floor jack and a monster 4-way because of that. :cool:

I want to know what you have or didnt have. :mad: :{

What can be learned/what was your experience???

Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Same as you in the tools, If I can't fix or limp home with what I have, call the tow. I have a extra 3 ton bottle jack and I carry a strap, chiains (tow kind) and jumper cables and I also bought a foldable crosswrench for incase you help out a car and they don't have a wrench (happened to me... used a regular ratchet and socket)... . Also have some tie-down straps and bungies. Don't have any room for coolant and oil but should. ... Will when I get a trailer and go camping.

The number of POS's that I have owned, and motorcycle riding with a bunch of Harley's... . Lets just say that the tool box in my truck is FULL, never mind under the back seat.

350 piece tools kit, standard and metric includes;

screwdrivers (Philip's, regular, torx), pliers (about 10 different types), 1/4 - 3/8 - 1/2 sockets, wrench's, electrical tester.

2 ton floor jack, (lost the 4 way, need a new one) 6' - 4' - 2' pry bars, 4' cheater pipe, hatchet, tree saw, hack saw, shovel, 4# sledge, 3 - 15' 1/2" chains, 20' tow strap, 4 ton come-along, jumper cables, 3 pairs of leather gloves, 7 years worth of collected spare nuts, bolts, screws, about 50' of 12 - 18 gage wire, various electrical connectors and switches, spare fuel pump, funnel, 5' of fuel line (2 different sizes), brake bleeder, WD 40, carb cleaner, the all important 100mph tape, hand cleaner, 4 or 5 bath towels for rags, a bed sheet (ground cover), 2 qts of oil, fuel treatment, gallon of windshield wash, insect repellent, 8 tie downs, lots of rope, 2 12v spotlights, 25' outdoor extension cord, two flashlights, Excedrin migraine, extra coat - gloves - hat, pack of cigarettes, 1 qt of amaretto, pack of gum.

I'm sure there's more, but that is all I remember right now.

My bike is cooperatively just as full. If I am riding, or driving, and it breaks, if I have the parts, I can fix it on the side of the road.

My truck has proven to be extremely reliable. I carry no tools.

Anymore, it's not for me, it for everyone else!:rolleyes:

I have yet to use my tools on my own vehicle or motorcycle.

Tools

I try to carry enough tools to get me going but not enough to do an overhaul along the road. The "Expanded Basic" set of tooling will get you along way... But with Murphys Law, you probably won't have what you need at that moment and hopefully you have some buddys along...

Get this one...

We live in the desert of Nevada and we went WAY out for a LONG weekend camping. I was pulling my old TT and when we got to the spot, 40 miles of rough road had done it's toll. The Propane frig had bounced around til' it broke the gas line feeding it. One propane tank gone with one left. I needed a piece of tube and a flaring tool, GOOD LUCK, RIGHT!!! My buddy is the ULTIMATE desert pack rat takes one look and says..... let me look in my truck... He pulls out... A FRIGGIN' PIECE OF TUBING FLAIRED ON BOTH ENDS THE CORRECT LENGTH. One full frig of food saved... I love that guy. :D :D

SO... How much is too much... you decide :)

I carry a craftsman tool set 200+ piece I think, stock jack crap (the only thing I've used it for, was to spread the frame rails), torque wrench, titanium pry bar, extra oil and filters, fuel filter, extra lift pump, jumper cables, jb weld, brake clean, wd40, multimeter, super glue, cable ties, rags, bungee net, various bungee cords, 12 tie downs (8 ratchet, 4 friction), tarp, tow strap, 100 mph tape, rechargeable maglite, 2 fire extinguishers (BC and ABC), and a bunch of miscellaneous crap for good measure.

Then only thing that's happened to me on trips is the lift pump replacement and a blown intercooler boot.
