Has anyone made there own box to replace the middle seat in a 40-20-40 front seat like the JL stealthbox? I was wanting to just put a single 10 or 12'' sub. If you have built a box do you have the deminsions for it. Where else can you put a box without doing a full under rear seat box? This is for the 98.

EASY TO REMOVE When REAR Seat is needed

This Is my set up... .

Before building a BOX

Call Fosgate and talk to an RF TECh

tell them what your looking to spend and they will hook you up ... they will tell you the exact Dimentions to build for your speekers ... . after you have the dimentions There is a car Audio site some where on the net just do a search for Speaker Box caculator or something like that ... there you will find a handy on line thingy where you can play with diffrnet size boxes and it caculates the Volume for ya ... remember tho the bottom has to be So big that the box dont fall over and the Face of the box needs enough room for the speaker and a couple inches all the way around so if your getting 12's go atleast 16"tall and 31" wide and just get the bottom as big as you can for the right Volume ... . DO NOT PORT THE BOX sealed inclosures sound way better and with a ported box you will have to have the port tube exact for it not to distort or just sound bad in general... . ported boxes have LAG between beats they hold out the beat too long and muffle the sound under a roar... sealed enclosures POUND QUICK AND HARD it will make your pine tree fressener bounch :-laf ... as well as give you CLEAR sound and the capibillity to listen to all types of music and still sound top notch... . use MDF as stock to build your box and use 1 bag polyfill for every 1 Cubic foot of area ... you can add and remove the fill to get the exact sound your looking for .

Yea that looks like you have a hard hitting bass, but I am looking for something alittle more "stealthy" than that so it wont get in the way or people wont be able to see it.

Why not just do a half under seat rear sub box? Why not use a JL stealth box? They sound OK for what they are.

My buddy had a 00 3500 dually that we went wild with in terms of his stereo. We started out under the back seat, then we took out the back seat, and we ended up building a middle seat box. (the truck had 2-15's and 3 12's when he sold it) The middle seat box worked out neat, but kind of made the presense of the bass feel a little "off balance" I guess. I dont know how to describe it. It sorta sounded you had sound on your right side (from the pass seat) and then a different sound on the left. Kinda weird, not full and even.

Oh yeah, what DM said about sealed boxes. They are better for all types of music. If you want to hear one tone, go with a bandpass or ported enclosure. If you like clean, clear and precise music, sealed is the way to go IMO.

I built two boxes to go under the rear seats and they hold a set of 10" subs

i use the center to hold the 2 amps right on the floor.

i don't have any pic's but i will try and get some for you soon.

they are a set of 10" MTX's with a sony 300w amp running them and a 65x2/w amp running the fronts and i use the deck power to run the ones in the rear quad doors i also run a 1. 5 din style pioneer 65x4/w deck with remote, its a great sounding system

How much are these half under rear seat boxes and who makes them? I havent seen them before. The reason for not getting a Stealthbox is the fact that I dont want to spend a grand on a stereo when Im saving for a transmission and Im only 16.

Check out hot-boxes on Ebay,he makes center boxes for 2nd & 3rd gens.

They come upolstered in factory materials. :)

Just check the mounting depth before you get your sub,I didn't. :{

I too looked at the stealth and don't want to spend the $$$ on it. I am looking for a system that can go under back seat but I have the storage compartment in there that came with the truck. I don't want to lose this space, well, maybe half of it. So I am limited to where a sub can be placed. I would like to find a basic plug together system that I can install myself. Anyone else out there in my situation and what did you end up doing to enhance your sound system?

Sound OK? My Single SW12 JL Stealth hammers MANY dual 10" systems (Keeps even with one but he runs half the wattage and are infinity perfects :{ ) and have built many higher end systems and this stealth still impresses me after 3 years.

Hmm a Solo Baric 10 is what I was going to buy also. Does you by chance have the deminsions for that box? That looks really nice.

It's an 8". I originally wanted to use a 10 or 12 but after measuring I found that the factory seat frame doesn't leave room for anything bigger, I had to do a little trimming just to get an 8 to fit. If you want to run a bigger speaker you'll have to ditch the frame and build a box that won't work well as a seat. If I was going to go that route I would just build a center console that extends all the way to the dash and into the cupholder area. Then you would have a large enclosure with a place to put your gauges, cb and other stuff also. There was a post on here where someone did something like this and it looked really good.
