I know Ford uses a close version of the same Dana 80 as is in the Dodge trucks, and need to know if Ford also uses the same 9224 DC spec LSD differential lube we do, along with the recommended friction modifier.

I need to drain and refill my differential, and probably can get what I need at the local NAPA store, but the stuff from Ford might be cheaper and easier, if it's the proper stuff for the DC Dana application...

Yes Ford does use the same Modifier as dodge and they sell it cheaper to. Don't know what oil they use in the D-80.

Thanks guys, but the QUESTION is, *does Ford use the same DC spec 9224 lubricant in THEIR Dana 80 LSD differentials as DC does?*

I'm very aware of numerous aftermarket alternatives to the dealer stuff, and have some in my differential NOW - but since it seems in need of change, I am more interested in going back to the DC spec stuff - but the nearest Dodge dealership is a 150 mile round trip - but there IS a Ford dealership 2 miles down the road!... ;) :D

ACTUALLY, I'm not real sure the 9224 spec is DC's, or comes from NV - and a fella would need to be sure that he is checking the LSD spec at Ford, since I suspect the regular Ford non-LSD differentials use something different...

I pass the local Ford dealership every time I go to town - so tomorrow will check to see what info I can get from their parts department.

As I understand it, the only difference between the D-80's used by Ford and DC relate to suspension mounting hardware and axles/tubes - the inner moving parts SUPPOSEDLY are the same - so you would think the Ford spec'd lube would work in ours as well - I was just looking for confirmation from someone who might have already checked...
