The Truth About Filters – Finally

Has anyone installed one of these injector pumps? I talked to Chip about this pump and the "improved NEW computer", but I have also talked to alot of other Bosch certified rebuilders and none of them knows anything about this computer. If anyone has one of this pumps, how many miles do you have on it and do you think that it is worth the $1,600?

Well that guy is the only one that figured out how to get to 4k rpm with his fueling box.

I would venture to say his computer on the VP44 would probably be good!

I don't doubt Chip's ability to deliverr yet another great product!! Remember factory Bosch guys are just like anybody who works mainstreem factory or OEM manufacturer. Most are completely unaware of the aftermarket's ability to enhance their very own product or are not open to the idea that their product can be modified to be made better.

well if or when you get one you will have to let us no how it does cuz i would like to have one if its realy that much better

Well I stand corrected. What I said however still stands true ... but not in all cases look at the Hodna Motor Co. and the civic , Ford and the mustang , etc etc.

According to the bluechip website:

"The other issue is the computer on the top of the injection pump. The computer gets intermittent and eventually dies because of too many heat cycles. When you shut the truck off the latent heat in the engine heats up the computer and after many heat cycles the solder that holds the electrical components to the circuit board becomes crystalline and no longer makes a good electrical connection causing intermittent drivability issues, and eventual pump failure. Our experience has indicated that if you have a code 216, you also have drivability issues, that were simply solved by the replacement of the injection pump. Federal Express experienced so many failures that they convinced Bosch to make them a special computer to deal with this issue. Well as you have guessed by now, all of our pumps come with a new Fedex computer. "

If this is true, then the computer is a Bosch unit, but not one stock to the Dodge application.

I am desperately in need of a VP right now, but have still yet to see any solid truth if a modded VP is any more reliable, or adds any HP, or enough to warrant the $600 price difference.

Cheap

This is cheap insurance, $600. We know what the Dodge factory injection pump electronics due. I would pay it so i could have just a little peace of mind. #2 injection pump at 34000 miles :( . Sam

its more than half the cost of a replacement and no guarantee of more power just "expected" longevity. I'd just buy a reman'd pump and be done with it.

buy you wife something nice with the $300 you saved. wink, wink!

For me it isnt so much the reliabilty factor, but it would be a plus. My biggest VP dilema is wanting to remove the HP limit of the HO pump, and from what I have been told, a hot rod pump is the only way to do it.
