installed the speed bleeders and bled the system with valvoline synthetic dot 3/4. now the abs/brake light is on intermittently. i drove around with the reservior just above the add line before i found a small size bottle of the valvoline, but now it is all the way to the top, but i'm still getting the dummy lights. it is intermittent, but on more than off.

any thoughts?

anyone have problems with the speed bleeders or was the synthetic valvoline the wrong choice?

thanks in advance.

Valvoline synthetic is good stuff you made no mistake there. I've heard that sometimes if you run the fluid low enough to make the warning light come on that the sensor can stick, it's like a float switch. Supposedly slamming hard on the brakes several times will free it up. You don't have to be moving but the truck should be running. I've never tried this, let us know if it works.

About six months ago i installed speed bleeders and flushed my system using the Valvoline synpower, worked great no problems. How's the pedal feel, is it firm or spongy. I would try to bleed it one more time.

iu'll give it a try...

i don't drive olga much anymore. iv'e got a company truck i rack miles up on. i drive olga occaisionally to work on some rental property.

i didn't take note of any better pedal feel. i suppose if i switched over to ss braided brake lines i'd get a better feel, but with the rubber hoses i still think there would be a spongy feel (especially with the abs).

after i first changed the fluid i felt as if the caliper slid around a little bit, but then a few drives later i felt as if the brakes were shuddering hard (this is after the truck had been sitting a long while).

i'll try slamming the brakes... makes sense to me. it was right at the add mark for a long time (but very few miles).

thanks, i'll try it this weekend and get back to you... ...

I had the same issue a week ago after doing the front brakes. It has not got anything to do with job itself. I spoke to a D/C tech here in town and he said change the Rear Wheel Speed Sensor. Just do a search for the sensor.

Change takes about mins and is fairly simple. Cost was $30

I always understood that synthetic brake fluid wasn't compatible with Dot3... ??? I was told from some GM engineers at Truck that it will hurt seals and such when mixing the two... and that if I wanted to change over to the synthetic, I needed to replace all the seals that had been exposed to the Dot3... .

I guess I'll let you guys be my test

:--)

curatchko, I think someone was confusing silicone brake fluid (Dot5) with synthetic. The Valvoline is compatible with Dot3.
