Doc T ?

Should I buy a Carbed Motor for my boat????????

This one guy wrote in to Car And Driver magazine : "... ... those of us who fought tooth and nail to convince our cable companies to add the channel to our lineup, can't stand NASCAR. If I wanted to watch something race around in a circle for an hour, I would simply tie a sock to my dog's tail, or maybe I'd try flushing a Ping-Pong ball. "

ROFLMAO While I'm a big fan of all forms of stock car racing, I got to admit he has a point. I don't want to tune in to that channel to see HOURS of NASCAR talk shows, or even races. The regular channels can provide that.

What do I want to see? EVERYTHING ELSE in the racing world! Especially SCCA, Formula 1, WKA, Pikes Peak, Bonneville, 24 Hours of LeMans, The Rolex Daytona 24 Hours, WRC rally cars, Cigarette boats in Unlimited Offshore, heck, even coverage of the Camel Trophy Challenge (they still abusing Land Rovers like that?) would be welcome... .

No, I need a speed fix, and roundy-round just ain't cutting it anymore. Let alone sitting and talking about it !!!!

You know some Kentucky redneck had something to do with it. :) :p

I like NASCAR as much as the next guy, but who wants to watch a race that's 10 years old and you already know who won?

I would rather watch a different type of racing as well. I guess I can have the cable company cancel the upgraded service since Speedvision was the only reason I got it.

I don't think I'd get too worried about it yet. I've turned over to Speedvision several times, and have yet to see any NASCAR on it. Of course, maybe they just haven't started it yet. I am a big NASCAR fan, but I do agree, there is a lot of other racing besides.

yeah. . i like nascar, but not watching "classic" many year old nascar. i really don't even like watching the 1 year old rerun they sometimes show when there is a rain delay. . this is a pretty good weekend for racing. . pepsi 400 last night, silverstone f1 this morning, and toronto indy in the afternoon. man, those indy cars sound real slick. drove by there yesterday [while i was "suppose" to be delievering a tv :D] now, they have some nice turbo whine

I gota try that

I gota try that pingpong ball trick:p :-laf

Every time I turn on Speed it has some sort of Motorcycle race on it. I can only watch a guy slide across the pavement on his back a 120mph so many times.

Nascar is now the in yuppy thing to watch so I'm sure you'll be seing a lot of it. I liked it better in the early 80s, much better racing then. :)

Darrell

I'm with Big D here, I liked it in the early days, on up into the 80's, those were REAL cars, they actually took a street car and welded roll cages inside it... . look at the ones in a museum, if ya don't believe me. (Gawd, am I that old now?!?!)

But going to a NASCAR race in person is just as exciting as it ever was. The thunder and speed is still there... . plus the "Show us your..... (censored)" signs still bring excellent results! :D That's not sumpin' y'alls gonna get on TV...

Don't cancel it yet, gitchesum, they'll come around, I hope. I think a lot of it has to do with WHEN you watch it. Certain times, certain days, are devoted to motorcycles, other times other days, to NASCAR, and so on... .

Just not ENOUGH coverage of the other motorsports, and I guess sponsor money/advertising has an awful lot to do with that.

"Consumer Product Showcase" ????? That's worse. Same old Ron Popeil selling yet another cooking device, or Guthy-Renker with a new scam to help you lose weight... ... . from your wallet.

It still sucks.

It looks like the weekend line up is better than the mid week line up.

Yeah, I know the last ones are re-runs but I'm countng them anywyas. :)

Besides, most of the news type shows are 50% NASCAR and 50% other motor sports

What a boring line up!

Thank God Shadetree mmmm I mean Two Guys Garage was on to save the day from the boring "Other" racing series.

I like NASCAR Winston Cup the best and maybe if they had more Pike's Peak Races it would be my second favorite series, but the World Rally Championship races they show are among the best driving I've seen in a long time and is my second best racing series to watch over all the other "Nobody" racing series.

NASCAR is the most popular series and as long as it is popular, it will take up most the air time slots.

I like NHRA drag racing as well as listening to John Force ramble on at the end of a run. He cracks me up every time!!

What Briar said!

Sorry, but I'm a road racer. Cars that turn both ways and start and stop and go for 12-24 hours at a time is my interest. Well, F1 is good too.

They (Speed/nascarvision) totally screwed the Runoffs last year.

Touring Cars are great.

Oh well, capitalism strikes again.

This Cummins will be towing a SCCA racer eventually-to Road Atlanta.

Only racing I really like to watch is the last 20 laps of a NASCAR race, or any kind of drag racing that goes faster then 13 seconds in the 1/4, not that import junk.

Wish I had the channel though.

If it's the night race @ Bristol, I DO!!!!! :D

Actually, if they would add figure-8 races & rollover contests, I'd be a happy camper! (You just MIGHT be a redneck if... ) :D

Wade, I'll have to try to get down to Road Atlanta and watch you run, if I ever get a little free time on the right weekend. I remember my younger days running a 280z and a 911 at Road Atlanta, and Lime Rock. Boy, it seemed to take me forever to learn the lines at Road Atlanta ! Are you old enough to remember the 6 Hours of Talledega races? Those were an absolute blast !

no but

My racing partner pit-crewed for 917's at Daytona many moons ago.

I've been around SCCA since '86.

He owns a CSR, a Audi ITB, and half my Tiga Sports 2000-as well as two trailers, all the tools, and years of experience. Another buddy has racing rights to an Apache S2 and owns a GT4 510 undergoing a tub to full-tube conversion.

Ken (the partner) is renting a ride in a Civic ITC and races SVRA in a '67 Vette Roadster (327ci) with another fellow.

I OTOH, haven't saved enough money for a racing budget. I refuse to go do a school for a license and then sit around and watch it expire.

IT category is where it's at these days. SEAT TIME.

Like a lot of other people, I spend my money where, when, and how I want to.

I just happened to have returned from a weekend at Kansas Speedway and watched the Busch race on TV Fri. nite, the Craftsman Truck Series race live Sat. , the Pepsi 400 on TV Sat. nite, the F1 race on TV Sun. morning, the Infiniti Pro series live Sun. morning, and the IRL race live Sun. afternoon.

I'm probably older than most of you, but I still enjoy the '"stock" car racing.

Life is a matter of choices. If the "old" races didn't pay back money, they wouldn't show them. TV business is about making money.

Send me the names of the people that are forcing you to watch all that "old" and boring stuff, and I'll personally KkTA on your behalf!
