Question for the forum please.

With 6 speed, 3. 54 gears, 275's, Edge Comp, BHAF, FASS Fuel system and a set of 285 size tires, what would be the estimated top end speed at 3250 rpm, and has anyone ever been there before?

I'm asking because I got in an uphill race with a Mercedes Kompressor on Saturday between Ritzville, Washington and Pasco, Washington going South on the freeway. I'm having a hard time believing my GPS speed of 131 mph:eek:

There was no winner or loser in this little run, it just kinda worked out to be a, who can keep up with who type thing. He and She (good looking gal) were right behind me when we hit the bottom of a long (3 to 4 mile) hill doing 80. I opened it up to just enjoy the power of the engine and listen to the turbo spool up. The ricer that was in-front of the semi at the bottom of the hill tried to keep up but was left behind. The Mercedes though, got on it with me and one thing just kinda led to another. It was fun, but not something I would do everyday.

Anyway has anyone ever been in this range before??

Be carefull there, I had someone call my plates in for doing something similar, just not as fast just before Ritzville heading back to the tri-cities in June. Cop was nice enough to let me off with a warning, but that is the first for me.

Hmmm. 285/75-16 tires would get you to about 119. 285/85-16 would get you to about 127. And at that speed, the tires could get just a little larger. And if yours are 285/85, 131's not too unreasonable for 3250 RPM.

What is the top RPM for the VP-44 and DDUFM? I've seen 118 or so on the speedo with 265's. I calculated the R's to be just over 3300--too busy driving at the time to look at those silly-spaced hash marks on the tach.

Do you know what the back of the Benz said? If it was a little 2 seater sports car, SLK 230 Kompressor, he was about done. You could easily take him. If you see any others with the Kompressor badge ( S, E, SL, CL) stay away... . they are VERY quick. 4. 5ish 0-60.

I smoked a Kompressor the other day here in town light to light, and boy was he shocked, the look on his face was worth 1,000 words.

The little ones aren't that quick... they are only a supercharged 2. 3L 4 cylinder. About 200hp. The others, well... . 500hp out of a 5. 5L V8. The twin Tubro V-12's are nuts too... .

500 ponies to the ground really does mess with folks heads--especially from a stinky old diesel!:-laf :-laf :-laf

Thanks for the feed back. As far as what the badge was on the back of the Kompressor, I don't know as I was out front most of the time we were running together. He did allot of drafting on me. Looked like brand new coupe. Just before I backed off on the run I did notice that he was starting to fade a little, or maybe he was thinking the same as me (is there a cop over the rise). :D It will be a long time before I get up into this range again as this is my daily driver and engines are expensive should I blow this one. But now I know where she will go if need be. :D Truck as 105,600 miles now. I'm happy with the performance, the mileage of 22. 78 mpg and the comfort level. I have no plans for buying another one as this one meets all my needs and wants.

These trucks are just plain fun to drive. :D

Well, As I remember Jim telling it at Muncie, he said the truck was kinda doing this ~~~~ and a bit of up and down.

But, He could do a better job, since he was the pilot.

I saw a CLK 600 a while back, and holy jeez!!! can we say fast? Anyways, I can vouch. . dont go for the big Kompressors... the small ones are easy to bag though!

CL 600 ahh yes... . a V12. The new ones are Twin Turbo'ed. The engine control unit doesn't give you full power till 65 or you will break the tires loose. Very fun, but almost scary to drive.

If I could only win the lottery... ... .
