2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Speed Sensor???

I have read posts about erratic speedometer and abs light and I'm almost convinced it is my speed sensor. However, I took out the sensor and it tested to 1800 ohms which is the right amount if I understand correctly. I put the senor back in and the abs and e brake light came back on. Before I buy the new sensor, I want to be sure that's what it is. I know the topic has been beat to death, but I need help and suggestions.

did you check the wiring right at the connector? they are prone to failing right there. I have had to replace pigtails before.
