On a 00 2500 4x4 5spd the speed sensor is out, but truck also has low power like a 6. 5l or a 6. 2l chevy. My question is has any one heard of a speed sensor causing these problems? There is no check engine light on. Just the abs light is on and park brake.

i don't think that the low power and abs/brake light are connected. Change the speed sensor in the rear diff. and that should take care off the lights on the dash.

As for the brake lights. If the speedo is working it is probably a front sensor. If the speedo is not working or intermittent it is probably the rear sensor. Fronts should ohm at around 600, rear 1800. I never heard of low power associated with these problems.

I and my brother in-law both had similiar issues on our 99s. I lost my speedo and ABS light was on. I replaced the speed sensor on top of rear differential to fix it.

My brother-in-law 3 days later shows up at my house and he has speedo, but ABS is light on, cruise don't work and something else was lite up on the dash(just don't remember but I want to say it was the Parking Brake), so we stuck my speed sensor in his. No worky worky. We had an electrical schematic and it showed the ABS computer was next up the wire. So we pulled that off my truck and put on his and that fixed it.

We ordered him another online somewhere for about $180. We both wished the $30 speed sensor fixed it :D

It seems if the speedometer is still working the speed sensor is good. Good luck!

The speed sensor will not cause a low power or CEL light. I have driven around with mine cut to avoid the top end defueling (speed limiter) for years now. It just sets a code in the PCM.
