Speed Sensor?

The speedometer on my 04' has stopped working. I had the same problem with my old 98' and discovered it was the speed sensor located on the rear diff. I am assuming it is the speed sensor agian, but I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem on a third generation truck or has the sensor changed location?

Is your ABS light or brake light on ,on the dash? usually the speedo will jump around a bit. Yes it is still located on the rear diff.

Yes, yesterday evening the brake light came on while driving home from work, but this morning it didn't even flicker. Also, like you said, the speedometer jumps around every now and then.

you could try to pull out the sensor and wipe off the metal filings .

There were some rather large metal shavings attracted to the sensor. Once it was cleaned it worked like a charm.
