speedo cable question

so i dumped all the computer crap outa the '91. 5 and put in the cluster from a '86. the junkyard cable finaly went out . i have anew one, just wondering if i should lube it up before i put it together and with what?

Lube it and save the greaf pulling it back down later.



Use the graphite (<- spelling) powder. It doesn't get stiff with cold weather. Any good parts supply house will have it.

Speedo Cable Lube

I got some stuff specifically for speedo cables at the parts house that was a combo of graphite and a light machine oil. Messy as all get out, but seems to work well.

I've used regular high temp wheel bearing grease with good luck.
