Gents, Ladies,

After many hours of searching, I'm unable to locate a post on module codes (98. 5 and later) to compensate for larger than stock tire sizes.

I remember seeing a post months back, but can't find it again. Help please as a friend of mine received a huge fine for speeding. His wife is understanding, however he had to sacrifice some bombing funds to pay the ticket. Thanks.

I have a 99 and put on 265's and had to get a ratio device from ricksons to recalibrate my speedometer. It works great & was easy to install. I know the dealer tried to reset codes for speedometer but the tires were out of the selection range he had. I hope this helps. Ricksons has gears for the older trucks as well as the ratio device for the 99 & up trucks which use the sensor in the rear diff for the speedometer. Hope this helps.

Dwayne,

I posted an item a couple of months ago about the great service I got from Superlift on their TruSpeed calibrator. Basically mine failed, and Superlift replaced it free with no questions. Very impressive.

You can see my post regarding their service here:

You can see the calibrator here:

You can buy it from Rickson here:

As you probably know from this web site, Rickson enjoys an excellent reputation for customer service too. They have always treated me better than I would have expected. Another great company.

I like the TruSpeed calibrator, but it's expensive. There are not too many devices out there that will do the same job. It wires up in-line with your wire from the rear wheel speed sensor and adjusts the signal to the truck's computers. My two (original and replacement) have been on the truck for a couple of years now and have never set any fault codes, nor illuminated any lights. The 4-wheel ABS still works fine.

If you have just 2-wheel ABS rather than 4-wheel, Rickson sells another unit you can use. I can't comment on that one though.

Having said all that, it's my understanding that if you have installed a tire size that was available from the factory as original equipment, you can have the Dodge dealer reprogram your on-board computer to correct for the new tire size. This is available only for tire sizes that were available from Dodge, I think. Others here will know for sure.

You can search for more information on speedometer corrections, or check with your Dodge dealer.

Good luck.

ecpeters, Loren,

Appreciate your reply to my post. Sounds as if my friend will have to purchase an aftermarket device to allow his speedo to indicate true speed. Will forward him the info you guys provided. Thanks.

Superchip Power tuner

I read on another post that the superchip power tuner will recalibrate tires, but again it may be limited to factory tires, but i heard it was programable in 1/4 inch diameter dividions.

I got mine at home but it be about week before I try it.

Superchip tuner will go from 24in to 38in in 1/4in increments.

I have a 98. 5 truck and can't read codes on the dash. The tuner being a code reader, clearer, speedo calibrator and it does some mild HP upgrade I decided to get one.

Seems to work fine so far.
