I have oversize tires which cause my speedo to under read and perhaps affect other electronics such as the ECM. Has anybody any experience with a device called an Electronic Pulse Ratio adapter. This is supposed to correct the number of electronic pulses generated by the vehicle speed sensor. Are they easy to install? Where can I get one? How much do they cost.

I installed the Abbot unit on my 1998 2500 back in Feb. '99 and has it has worked fine. My speedo/odo readings, as calibrated by interstate mile markers, are much closer that the original setup with stock tires. My stock setup read too fast/too many miles by about 2-3%.

Keith,

I installed an Abbott E. R. A. 6 months ago to correct the speedo/odometer readings after installing LT295/75R16 tires. Everything read about 8% too low. The installation takes about 30 minutes and requires you to locate and splice into one of the speed sensor wires. The sensor is located on the rear differential and the wires run as a twisted pair up to the engine compartment. Several folks have recommended putting the ERA in the cab instead of the engine compartment to keep it out of moisture prone areas. The device cost $117 when I bought mine.

The only installation issues are finding the right speed sensor wire and a place to hook up to a switched power source.

Thanks for the info re: Abbott. I've been looking for someway to recalibrate my speedo. Have been stalling off on larger tires/wheels because of that. Now I don't have to procrastinate anymore.

You might want to call the guys at Rickson. In talking to them at the Nationals, I think they sell cheaper then direct buys from Abbott and they have corrected the installation directions to make them work well for the various Dodge applications.
