Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) speedo gear

How do you get the speedometer gear off of the tailshaft to replace the 5th gear nut?

Just unbolt the retainer and wiggle it out. Mine was hard to do the first time.

I meant the worm gear on the shaft. I got the snap ring off but I can't pull the gear. Can you use a gear puller?

just grab it somehow and pull, it is a slip fit. Try gloves and twisting.
