Has anyone--- Speedo quit while going through railyard at slow speed Thurs night. Then on city streets, still below 40 mph. When I hit freeway it kicked in at about 50 mph and remained accurate until I slowed down below 40 mph, and again kicked in as I speeded up. The test outlined in service man. proved no faults in head assy. The cruise control doesn't work until above 40 mph also. I think it is going to be the sensor in the rear end, and that will take three trips to dealer, one to determine problem, 2nd for wrong part and 3rd to fix.
Anyone had this problem? This is a '99 5 speed. Life was so simple when we had speedo gears and cables. I won't give up my electric seats, electric mirrors and my cruise control on a manual trans. for it though. In 68,000 this is my first dealer visit for warranty work! Life is usually good!

I had a carrier bearing go bad at 54000 in mine. The ABS light came on and stayed on and the speedo would cut up at times. I guess the ring gear rubbed the speedo pickup and the abs probe. According to the invoice they replaced everything in the rear end including the probes. I pulled the plug in the cover too check the level and it had a ball of metal shavings on it. Haven't got many miles since the repair. Seems to be ok. bg

B. G. -- You nailed it. I pulled the plug on the rear and there was almost enough metal filings stuck to it to make a run to the scrap yard.
Ain't TDR great -- Don't think anything can happen to one of our trucks, that it hasn't happened to someone else, and everybody is willing to share!
Thanks for the help --
