My thoughts exactly. Again, I did find a dealer who is going to do it for $25 which is about what it's worth to plug the thing in, punch in a bunch of number and pull it out.

I plan on hitting up the dodge.com each for my area here again to see what I can find for Minneapolis area. Been a year since I've bought new tires.

Tire recalibration.

I knew a tech who worked at Jack Powell Dodge in Escondido. He finally had to get out of the business because the reimbursement rates were unreasonably low. When he got his work order he had to find the vehicle among dozens of others. He had to secure a work stall or lift. Next was to diagnose the problem. Next was looking up the parts and securing the availability and price. Next if it was a non-warranty issue, getting the customers approval. WHEW! There's a lot to it! This tire recalibration fix should be a more reasonable rate,I agree though.

And yeah, I'm sure if you do any sort of quantity of work, that $9000 cost is recouped inside a month, if that.
Really... interesting you are able to comment on my Return On Investment. I work alone so thats not the case.

I only meant to shed some light on the subject. I am not trying to justify the Dealers price you were told, his costs of doing business are no doubt different than mine.

The trouble is paying the tech his rate for 15 min and then trying to recoup the equipment expense so they set a rate.

As an example the unit I use is cost $8,250. 00 and updates are $895. 00 every 6 months to keep current. I will do it free for TDR members just cuz :D

Really? Where on the West Coast are you? :)

Regards,

Mark
