A few days ago I put a set of 235/85's on my 3500 4x4. Last nite I got a speeding ticket. Can anyone tell me what to do to make my speedo read true again?

Abbott Electronic Ratio Adapter (ERA) should do the trick. They have a web site that you can check out from the links page.

scott , what year is your truck , if its got the electronisc speedo the dealer can do it in the computer , its cheaper than the abott , unless you plan to change to a different size again

Based on my experience, your dealer (or any dealer) won't electronically fix it unless you've changed to a tire size that was factory available for your truck.

They get incredibly ignorant about this topic. Just wait and see... ... .....

yes mike you are right i think about them only being able to change for a factory installed size , the size that scott went to was not an option in 98 but is on the 2000 , i saw one on the lot last week , so they may be able to help , if not its the abbott box

scott , i got charged for 1 hr computer time , 60 bucks , i watched them do it in the service line , took 5 minutes , that bugged me but was the only way to make the truck run correctly ... give it a shot

On my 97 I just changed the speedo gear located in the tails-haft housing of the transfer-case. 10$ from the dealer. The speedo gear is connected to a electric "gizmo" that sends a signal to the speedo. I not sure if it is the same for the newer models.

no its different in 98 DBR , i tried that first , got the gear , took it apart , no go , it uses a hall effect sensor with a toothed wheel in the trans , it sends a signal to the computer and there is a correction factor to give you correct speed . .

HAHAHAHA... you wait and see what a dealer says if the tire is not an option that was available for the truck!!!! Idiot service manager blamed all my initial problems with mileage, low power, blah blah blah on my 285 75 16 BFG Mudders!!! Screw em. I'd get the Abbott sensor---or, do like me: WHO CARES? if its a couple of mph off???
