Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Speedometer Fix

Has anyone ever installed an Abbott ERA? The instructions say to connect within 6 inches to the vss. The vss is on the tailshaft housing of the transmission, right? The shop that I bought the module at said that they connect it under the hood. What's the best way? HELP!!!!!

To the best of my knoledge the vss is in the top front of the rear axle housing.

97 to 98 was the change over from the "old style" vss unit on the tailshaft of the transmission/transfer case to the pickup off of the rear end.
