Hey guys, I have a 2005 2wd

i am having some weird issues with the speedo/odometer while driving.

for several weeks now I have been experiencing an issue where while driving down the road, the speedometer and odometer will quit working. Its random in nature but a few times it follows a seeming hard braking. My ABS light has stayed on for unrelated items. Now I have replaced the trans output speed sensor mounted in the OD tail housing of my 48RE so I know how that works but the trans has worked flawlessly during this weird series of circumstances. On 1 occasion the speedometer fluttered 0-5 mph while just in park and idle.

any guesses?

More than likely the circuit board in the cluster has some cracked solder joints. Google it or check YouTube as there are quite a few videos on how to repair it. Watch a few different ones as some were made by morons.
It is very easy to repair if you are careful.

Circuit board in the cluster is the usual problem. Have you run the cluster test to see if it is giving you codes?

FYI, the output shaft speed sensor on the trans has nothing to do with speed or odo, that is there for the trans shifting only. Speed and odo are driven off the sensor on the rear diff.
