OK, on my way home today my speedometer checke out, Just stopped working. So I hop on the old TDR and start searching. I've had no luck:( so now I'm here to ask what could cause this. What I've done so far is found out that it's not the speed sensor in the transmission or the gear. And I know this because I spent the 47$$ on a new senser and checked the gear. No luck.

Thanks, Jim

The speedo in my Grand Cherokee has worked intermittently for several months. Of course it always worked when I stopped at the dealer to check it out. I replaced the sensor and checked everything else I could, guess what. Yep it was the speedometer itself. In the case of the Grand a replacement was $360. I replaced it and it has worked fine ever since. The Grand has all the same electronics as the Ram.

Thats not good, Can I get one from a junk yard? Well I hope so. Thanks for the info I'll Let ya now how I make out.

Don't know how many miles are on your truck but the one in my Grand went at 107,000. Anyway, yes like illflem said I checked EVERYTHING before changing the speedo. Check the plug on the rear of the speedo and at the speed sensor and make sure everything is good and tight and there are no bent or loose pins. After 100,000 miles or so though the plugs are usually tight. Yes I wound up buying one out of a salvage yard for mine, paid about $150 for the whole cluster. Sucks having the odometer screwed up, but probably worth the $200 savings. BTW if you have any warranty they are going to get whiny about the odometer change, I took LOTS of pictures and documentation when I changed mine. I hope it's not the speedo, but that sounds like what it is.
