Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Change shift points

I just purchased a 99 3500 4x4 quad cab

CTD with 5 speed. It has 126000 miles

on it so I know the tires are not original.

The tire size now is 255 85 16 and my

speedometer is off by about 10 MPH at

65. I was wondering if that will affect the

performance of the truck and how can it

be corrected?

Will this also change my odometer reading?

Thanks

Mark,

if your speedo is off then everything else that is mileage related will be off.

After my lift and tires I got a TrueSpeed sensor from SuperLift.

It is a very nice adjustable electronic device that will correct your speedo for you. It is a simple 4 wire install. The manual has directions on how to adjust for different size tires and gears.

Other companies also make the exact same type of box.

They cost somewhere in the $200 range.

I just bought an Abbott unit from the factory for $145. 00 to use with my new tires. Got a 3 mph difference between the old tires and the new tires according to the gps. :)
