Have problem with speedometer. Driving along about 55 mph and speedometer started bouncing back and forth. Finally completly stopped. No speedometer, no odometer, no speed control and gear vender will not work. Any advice? Have 122K miles. Thanks Norm

Heyyyy I've been there before. OK First thing you need to do is git down and dirty ... .

1) Check out the connection to your sender. Make sure the connector is not loose, bad, etc. and check the wiring has been nicked, cut, damaged, etc.

If that ain't it then

2) Grab your multimeter and do a continuity check on the sender.

If that ain't it then

3) Check the drive shaft connection yoke assembly make sure the nut is secured and the shaft has no movement. (If there is movement then you better take it to the shop or get the service manual out and run through the speedo system)

If that ain't it

4) You need to talk to someone else, cause I am now out of answers!!!

My situation was item 3 above. I'm having lotsa fun right now.

Good Luck

My guess is the sender. At 140K, mine is on the third one (or more. ) Heat seems to kill them. I asked the guy at the Dodge house if this was a common failure. He hemmed and hawed around and said something about selling quite a few of them.

Hey ND, I had the same problem and it was the speedometer cluster that just went south. Check all of the other things first (espicially connections), but if all else fails go to the junkyard and pull one from another truck or ramcharger. Very easy to change out, but you do have to remove the entire gauge cluster to get to it. I forget where I got mine but I bought the entire dash cluster (all gauges) for $45. 00. Everything is on a plastic circuit (sp) board much like a computer motherboard. Once it was in everything returned to working order. Good luck.
