I added a spell check feature to the forums tonight. If anyone has problems with it please let me know. I had to recompile PHP to do it so the forums were down for a minute or so.

Thanks for the cool new feature Steve, it helps people like me

Try responding to this post, and spelling something wrong then use the spell check to try it, it really works. :D

When I click spell check just get an empty blue box that sits there, I'm sure I misspelled every word, does that throw it off?

It will catch most of the mistakes.

However if the mis-spelling is a word it won't catch it.

Still I need this spell check.

This site just keeps gettin' better. :D

What browser and OS are you running illflem? I tested it with IE 5. 5, Netscape 4. 6, and 6. 2. There are some users having trouble with it and it may be beyond my ability to make it work - I'm using someone elses hack as well as a couple of off the shelf packages to make this fly. You wouldn't believe the hoops I had to jump through just to get it to this point!!

When you post a new thread, edit a post, or a new reply there should be a button on the bottom near the save changes or submit button to the right that says spell check.

Found it, Steve, but it doesn't work for me either. Thanks for trying to add something I can really use. Using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Bill

Steve, I'm using IE 6. 0. The header on the non-functioning blue box that pops up says Spell Checker - MS Internet Explorer provided by Earthlink Network.

For those of you guys that it isn't working for check your browser settings and make sure that Java is enabled (in IE it's under the Tools menu->internet options->advanced . Also, make sure that your anti virus software isn't blocking Java. Also there was a virus hoax that has been making it's way around for the last few months called Jdbgmgr. exe. They tell you to look for that file and delete it if you have it. It's a part of Java and if you erase that file it's possible that may make it not work. Here's some info on that hoax and how to restore the file if you did delete it: http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99436
