Tool Has another Forum Idea (And this one rocks too)

Before you ask - What happened to my post count?

I'm using Win 98 and OE ver 6 - and the spell check doesn't seem to be working for me - all I get is an empty box - maybee i are jus to gud a speeler, an nothin to chek?

Checking enable java console got it working for me. Sorry to be picky but is there a way to teach it diesel terms? It seems to think they are misspelled, won't even get gauges right.

Spell check not working for me. Windows 98 and browsing with Netscape 6. 2. 1, I get the blank window after clicking the spell check icon. This is with the javascript enabled.

Still not working for me either. Windows 98 & IE. Jave enabled. Just a blank window. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

illflem - that's strange, did anything on your system change at all? Do you have a virus scan enabled now that you didn't when it worked, etc?

For the guys that it still isn't working - have you checked to see if you still have the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\JDBGMGR. EXE ? Also, did you check to see if your virus scan software is blocking javascript?

I have found a bug where on long posts it goes into a continuous loop (I found it on a post with 4000 characters). I've let the author of it know and hopefully he'll come up with a fix for it. The dictionary software is still a beta release and admins are just getting it up and running so I'm sure there will be bugs we'll have to deal with. I think it's worth it to get a good product in the end. So far, the majority of people seem to be able to use it.

I am trying to figure out how to add words to the dictionary. I should have it figured out soon and I will add our typical terms to it.

Mine is workin' Steve, thanks. :D

I have IE and windows ME (POS BTW), I enabled java console, and it seems to be workin' fine now. Thanks again.

Mine still isn't working - Java enabled - haven't tried disabling virus scan, but would rather have virus protection than spellcceck, sinse I nevur make mistrakes...

WOAH there! I hope noone misread me - I didn't say to disable virus scan software!!!!! Some virus scan packages can be set to block all java script applications because of the potential that you could get a virus through java that is a new virus that they don't scan for yet. I just meant to check your virus scan software to see if it was blocking all java script applications or simply checking them for virus's.

Gary - did you check to see if JDBGMGR. EXE is still on your system? I know of several people running the exact same configuration as you that it's running fine for. Your exact configuration is one of those that I tested as a matter of fact. You may try clearing your cache and see if that helps.

Nothing has changed Steve. What is weird though is if I hit quote then click spell check it works, tried it on this post and nada. No big deal as I use Outlook to check my posts anyways.

STEVE - YUP, the JDBGMGR. EXE file is in my system - just checked again to make sure - I run Cachesentry on my system to manage/flush cache - dunno if that's a problem or not - I'll try disabling it temporarily to see...

NOPE - didn't make any difference - still just get the empty box...

Well Steve,

It was workin' yesterday fine, but not today, after it corrects the spelling, and I click "finish check" the screen goes blank, and just stays there and doesn't transfer the corrections to my post. :(

Was it a long post Rob? I have found a bug where it freaks out on long posts. The one I was able to replicate it on was a 4000 character post. I've let the author know about it and hopefully he'll come up with a fix soon. This software is still in Beta release and hopefully the bugs will be fully ironed out soon.

I just ran into an interesting situation with the spell checker. All of the ---n't words were considered incorrect, according to the spell checker. I guess I could say is not, rather than isn't and did not, rather than didn't, but that's not how I talk and I didn't know that I talked all wrong. :)
