Hello from NC,

Just finished installing the Spyn-Tec spin free hubs on my 05 Dodge dully. The kit is very good, all parts are good and fit as they should. There are a couple hard parts, pulling the hubs, installing the u joints and dust cover on the new upper stub shafts. You need a good hub puller and the other tools that EMS recommends. The 4 point spanner socket is a must. Used a 4 1/8 hole saw to cut a hole in the hub cap, looks great. Oo.

Tom at EMS Offroad LLc was lots of help, thanks Tom.

If there is any interest will post pictures.

After my truck is out of warranty I would like to go with this kit... what kind of locking hubs do they use??

Post 'em up, please... Oo.

To respond:

When bearing fail will do it: My truck has over 70k miles, the bearings looked new and will probably last 500K

What brand: Spyn-Tec from EMS, I like the kit because it is complete, no other parts to order or the wheels won't fit. HC-00D-DRW-35, part No.

Warranty issues: We are our own warranty

IMO, the only part of your warranty this kit would affect are the front wheel bearings, which you just replaced, and the u-joints, which won't be turning anyway. Same with the front DS and differential assembly.

Some pics of my install ... Best thing you can do for these 4x4 dually's ... . Warranty issues are mute, like mentioned, everything of concern is replaced with much better parts that will last a whole lot longer !

On my setup, I got a increase of about 1. 8 mpg with no driving style changes. Also able to make tight turns and U turns that where not possible before.

Very curious to see what Dave get out his.

I like how the hubs fit in the hub caps. Thats about what I was hoping for.

Those are great results!

2Lo would be a great option as well. Now if I could only find a full time 4wd xcase with a lockable center diff that would hold the power of my motor...

If or when my unitized stockers go this will be on the table, but at $1550 it would take approximately 80k miles at a 2 mpg gain in efficiency for them to pay for themselves. At current rate that would take me several years.

It cost me $1500. to replace both my stock front bearing packs on my 2001 truck two years ago - - The parts cost on the '06 has gone up considerably since then - - It was easy to justify the cost - - fuel mileage was not a major consideration, but I did pick up about 10% both single and pulling our travel trailer. The big thing was having 2WD lo range to back up the trailer with out over working the auto trans.

The logic is a bit flawed, you need to subtract what the stock repair would cost from the kit so now you investment is probably around $500-800 if you do the install yourself.
