Competition Time to go sled pullin'!

I was needing to know if anyone here has ran a spool in the front of a 2nd gen (95 with a Dana 60) with the vacuum axle disconnect? I know that it will be almost impossible to turn while it is in 4X4, but how is the engagement of the disconnect? I am worried that it won't be able to engage without jacking up the right wheel to get it off the ground.

Thanks in advance

I ran both spools and welded front ends. Dont do it. It is just to much hassel as the front end locks in fine but can be a real pain to get it to disengage, and you will not steer it at all. Ive pulled so hard I thought the column was gonna break. I now run a spool in the front of my mod truck and it is comeing out soon to put an ARB in.

One of the guys around here just welded up his stock open front. Your right the 60 front axle disconnect will allow you to turn if you can disengage the 4wd. I wouldn't spend the money for a spool. I would either weld up the stocker, or stick in the ARB. I have an ARB and it is a very nice set up.

Guys run the power trax and the detroit and it 2wd you are fine. ( I was thinking last time we talked). Problem is in 4wd the truck will not want to turn with power applied. There is an electrac, and the ARB. If you are eliminating the CAD your best bet is a selectable locker.
