Getting close to ordering an '05 3500 SLT QC SB 4x4. Got the color narrowed down to std chromed front Silver color or the Gray with the sport appearance pkg. Leaning toward the latter but worried that all that paint up front will be a problem for excessive chips and nicks. Suspect the non-painted facia, chrome bumper and grill will be far more resistant to the potential chipping issues than the AGG Sport front.

You guy's with the Sport fronts, what's been your experience? Lot's of chips and things? Would you go that route again?

My use will primarily be RV towing, blacktop, minimal gravel... ... .

... ... And as always, sure appreciate your input...

I had an 02 1500 sport and now have an 03 2500 with chrome. IMO sports look great but the chrome cleans better. Now that I have had both I would do chrome again.

Mine is a sport and I live and work in the desert and the thing is always getting nailed by rocks and sand and the only chips are on the hood and fenders. The bumpers have a flex agent added to the paint to make it more impervious to chips and other crud. The chrome bumper on my 02 had a bunch of pitts on it when i got rid of it.

I put a Mopar Bra on mine, good prcie and I like the look. Took about a half hour to install and now it comes off and goes on in about 5 or 10 minutes. Gives me the option of extra protection and one look or removing it and know all the piant underneath looks new!!

When I ordered mine, I reasoned that the sport fronted would chip from road debris, but so would the plactic chrome grill. I figured I'd be able to repaint the sport grill and bumper easier than replace the plastic chrome grill.

Now almost 5 years and 200,000 miles later, There is not a chip on the grill or bumper cover ( the hood and fendes have a deflector to protect them).

So either I made the right chice, or it wasn't enough of an issue that I should have even worried about it.

Next truck will be chrome, but just for looks.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like front-end paint chips is basically a non-issue. Will be an esthetic's decision. I like the Gray/Sport. Wife likes the Silver/Chrome combo. Why is life so hard !!!!!!!

As you can tell from my signature, I have a 2003 graphite sport package. I still like it, and would do it over again. No problems with chips or anything. One thing I did do with the graphite sport, when I put on the tube steps, i went black instead of chrome. Looks great!
