Well I finally got everything painted and mounted except the grille emblem. Please excuse the bugs and otherwise dirty truck. I'm still debating whether to get another stocker or try my hand at some clear resin casting and make one. What do you think? Any ideas on what to cast into the grille emblem?

Scott

looks real sharp well done. as for putting something in the badge spot i think a cummins c in there w/ some clear resin to smooth it out

Looks good!

2years after my SLT to SPORT Im still extremely happy that I went thru the trouble to hunt one down!

what parts had to be changed? brackets? sub bumper? ???

do you have a list of what it took?

everything changes! unbolt the grille and bumper and bolt on your new sport bumper and grille. The sport grille is taller and has a longer latch, the bumper isself doesnt have a angle bracket like a SLT so its only 3 18mm bolts per side to put on.

Note this is a 99-02 sport the previous years were a painted SLT grille/bumer

Traded for the bumper with a friend of mine. It was from an '01 model. The brackets changed in '97 so I had to drill and enlarge some holes and grind a little off the ends to make the newer brackets work on the '95. The bumper itself is basically a metal frame with the plastic cover.

I wanted to keep the chrome grille but had to have the sport grille to fit the bumper. I had seen the grille on eBay a couple of times, I have the name of the seller if anyones interested. They are the only place I was able to find one but they said they stock them and will list one if someone is interested.

Mounting the grille was more involved than I thought. Some new holes had to be drilled in the hood and then the hood had to be bent back or "recessed" where the holes were drilled. The grille "frame" or bracket is different but bolted right up and the hood release rod is longer but was pretty cheap from Dodge.

The grille goes for @$120 with shipping on eBay. The grille bracket and release rod came from the dealer for @$45 and $12 respectively.

Thanks for the compliments. :D

LMC has the chrome sport grille for the dodges. A few other nice ones as well. I have been looking for a source for the plastic sport bumper.

TDR member John put a black Sport grille on his '98 but kept the stock bumper. He modified it by carefully making a cutout along the back edge matching the contour of the grille and it turned out nice. Not sure how it would look with a chrome Sport grille though if someone wanted to save the expense of having to buy the Sport bumper as well.

IC Smoke I remember seeing your album before where you did the Sport bumper 2-tone like BigPapa did.

Scott, i looked at your truck when you were at Beech Bend. It really adds a new look to these trucks. I liked it. Randy
