2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Sport Headlight Brands & Quality?

After almost 7 years, I am going to do the sport light conversion on my 2001. 5. It appears that many folks get theirs from Importvision.com and I gather that those are the Depo brand? From what I gather doing a search maybe ALL of the non OEM ones are made by Depo.



Are those assumptions correct?



Assuming I buy Depo branded lights, I was wondering how the quality stacked up to OEM, better, worse or about the same?



I did see member Gary - K7GLD's truck a few weeks ago and he has the Depo brand and they looked good, but not sure how long they have been on the truck.



If OEM is a better way to go, I will, just don't want to spend the extra cash if that isn't going to buy me anything!

Mine are the Depo.

I replaced the yellow'd original non-sport lights.

They are starting to yellow after 4 years.

Hmmmm

Thats about 1 year sooner than the stockers...

Seem to be ok quality.

The rubber grill gaskets did not hold up well and are completely cracked.

Re -use the stock rubbers.

My Depo branded Sport lights have been on for 3 years now. No yellowing.

I picked up a pair of sport headlights to replace my non sports on my 1997. One was an OE part and one was a Depo. The only differences I can see are the name and maybe a slight difference in pattern. The reason I say slight difference in pattern is that I did not notice the pattern difference on the road; only when I pull up to a wall. I’ve only had them on for 7 months so I can’t comment on the yellowing. They both seem to be doing the job and are MUCH better than the stockers on my 1997. If you think you might like more light, it is worth every penny to swap to the sport lights.

Mine are from Import Vision. They are very nice quality and hold up well. I've had mine now for 2 years and they look and perform as the day I got them. I do agree with San Felipe Bob though, re-use the stock rubber gaskets.

Well it sounds as if the Depo brand will work OK, checked the local dealer this morning and the OEM units are $534. 49 per pair, so the Depo brand from importvision.com will save $324. 99 (less S&H) since then are listed at $210 per pair. You can buy 2 1/2 sets if need be for the same price as OEM!

HI again Shelby - the ones you saw on my truck have been on less than a year - and from comments on other users above, looks like they will deliver a long service life.

ALSO, for guys unhappy with the rear lighting on our trucks - especially the backup lights - I can post a shot of those I have upgraded as well if interested.

I did the Sport headlight conversion on my '99 10 years ago with Depo parts. 5 years ago, I had to replace 1 side, the lens actually fell out on the highway. Otherwise, they've been fine, I'd have no problem buying them again.

I also used Depo brand, can't remember how long ago, one was broken in shipment, they replaced right away and they have been pretty good. One of them fogs up now, must have a leak someplace and the UV is starting to take it's toll. I plan on replacing with Depo this year along with Depo brand fog light housing all from Geno's.

I have had two Depo brands both leak and show condenstation inside. I replaced one two years ago and it is fine but now the second one has moisture.

Mine are Depot. I did them probably 10 years ago, suffice to say theyre foggy & yellow now.
