I am seriously thinking about doing the "Sport Headlight Conversion" due to the oem headlights being poor at best. My question is once the conversion is done will both of the lights (9004 & 9007) run on low beam? I am looking at the wiring harness from www.suvlights.com for the 9004 to 9004/9007 with 4 relays. I've tried to get an answer from them, via email and phone, had to leave a message, but they have not gotten back to me. Would be nice to see the road at night.

Thanks,

Casey

Edit for correct web-site.

That's going to purely depend on the wiring harness you go with.

I built my own harnesses, but elected to keep the stock patterns, low beams are outer 9007s only, high beams are both 9007s and 9004s. Still used 4 relays, just didn't connect the low beam side on the 9004 lamps.

I'm also going to assume that you mean http://www.suvlights.com.

Yeah, that's the website, thanks for clearing that up. On that website there is a harness to convert from 9004 to 9004/9007.

That particular harness is what I am referring to. I'm wondering if it will light both bulbs on low beam. Any idea jkalchik? Thank.

Personally, I'd bet that it won't light up both bulbs on low beam. Of course, I could be wrong.

I ordered the 9004 sockets from them when I built my harness last summer. No issues with customer service from them here.

I have that exact harness, after having done the sport headlight conversion. From what I can remember, yes, both the 9004 and 9007 low beams do both come on at the same time, the sport headlights are a vast improvement over the others. I don't have the truck at school right now, I got my toy down here, the Ramcharger, or I'd go and test 'em and tell ya. I wanted the highs and lows to come on at the same time, and I talked to the owner personally and he said that he could tell me how to wire them so that the lows and highs would both come on at the same time, but I never got back with him on that. I had heard of overheating problems with that anyways, so I figured that what was on there was good enough for now, and I'll hook up the fogs to come on when the highs come on, so that'll be close enough for lows and highs. On my 01 Sport they work like this;

Dim: Only the 9007's (outer) are on.

Bright: Both the 9007's and the 9004's (inner) are on.

I have Sylvania Silver Star's on inner and outer and they are much whiter and brighter than a regular 9004\9007 bulb. But I have used the GE version (can't remember the name) and they were quite a bit cheaper than Silver Star's and it was hard to tell the difference from the ST's. Next time I'll buy the GE because they are cheaper and about the same.

Did the conversion this morning. Harness from suvlights.com. Both bulbs 9004 and 9007 come on at low beam. Looking forward to being able to see the road now. Will wait until it gets dark here and do the final adjustments. Took a while to get the harness from SuvLights but it was worth the wait.

Easy conversion, if you are on the fence, just do it.

cul,

I just installed the harness from summit racing... APC I believe. Not impressed with the quality if the connectors

This looks like a better way to go. Where did you guys get the sport light fixtures, dealer, online?

Any gotcha's on the fixture replacements.

Thanks JJ

Jim,

Got the headlights from Import Vision in Simi Valley, CA he has an eBay account at Import Vision . Drop the bumper, but you do not have to remove it, a couple of inches. Install is pretty straight forward.

Did a final adjustment tonight, man I love this setup.

later,

Casey

Is this a 2nd gen only mod?

It sounds like this "Sport Headlight Conversion" adds 2 additonal lamps?

I am guessing that this mod is specific to the 2nd gen headlamp assembly, or is this apply to 3rd gen too?
