My OEM headlight assemblies are about trashed, road rash etc. I'm thinking about the sport assemblies as replacements using the light box adaption.

Questions:

1. Does the bright box come with the extra bulb mounts and is the whole assembly plug-in or is there wiring required.

2. To those of you that have made this conversion and lived with it for awhile, was the cost worth while?

3. Would you do it again, or just go back with the OEM setup with a Brite Box

All comments and suggestions welcomed!

I have a '98. 5 Sport which came with the same headlights as the SLTs :( I later upgraded to the '99+ Sport headlights and turn signals. Not only are they aesthetically more pleasing, they are functionally superior. I also upgraded the halogen bulbs to PIAA 9007s/9004s and added the "special" Brite-Box made specifically for the conversion ('94 through '98. 5). This can be purchased from Geno's Garage (although they don't list it in their catalog).

On the '94 through '98. 5 Rams (SLT and Sport models) you will have to remove a semi-considerable amount of sheet metal around the stock headlight openings (housing clearance. . nothing precision) to accommodate the Sport headlight assemblies. This is not necessary on '99+ SLTs. Other than that, the new Sport assemblies bolt right in.

All in all, I'd do it again in a heartbeat! :D

Whats it take?

So do you have to do the turn signals also?? Are they required to get the right fit or to get the right look?? I have a driftwood non sport and think the sport lights would help its looks alot IMO.

Does anyone have a picture of the diference between the sport lights and the regular? I have heard a lot about doing the conversion, but don't know what it would look like.

Clark, it's not necessary to convert over to the Sport turn signals however, they look REALLY  compared to the SLT turn signals. Besides, the Sport headlights by themselves are not that much less than the Sport headlight assemblies (Sport headlights+9007/9004 halogen bulbs+matching Sport turn signals+assembly mount. . which are completely assembled ready for installation). I think the fluted lenses of the SLT turn signals would look really out of place next to the unfluted Sport headlight lenses. JMO

Thanks for the help everybody, ordered the sport housings today and will order the britebox quad converter from Geno's Monday.

Will swap the parking/ turnsignal housings next month.
