Ok, I am wanting to upgrade my poor lighting. I have the TDR article on upgrading to the Sport 4 bulb system. Question is, is there anywhere to buy them cheaper than our local 5 skunk dealer? I have found the standard light assembly from aftermarket suppliers, but not the sport. Also looking at a brite box from Geno's. Any other suggestions?

Prices I've been getting are around $160. 00 each.

If you find any cheaper, let me know.

Eric

PS I have a tax number, and should be getting a discount!!

Well I don't have a schematic for a 94-97, but I acan explain how to do it.

All you have to do, is have the high beam circuit trigger a relay that keeps the low beams on when the high beams come on. To make it all work right, you will need to remove the high beam wire from the stock headlight socket. That wire will now be used for the new high beams. If you don'tremove it, BOTH filaments in the low beam housing will be on when the high beams are on. That will create too much heat. This will now be used for the new high beams.

Now, to make the custom "brite-box" work. Have the high beam circuit activate a relay that brings power back to the low beams. As you know, the low beams go off when the high beams come on. So basically all you are doing, is re-directing power tot he low beams when the high beams come on. Am I making sense?

This is a fairly easy way to do it, and no need to shell out a bunch of money for the Geno's "Brite-Box," which is a HUGE ripoff if you ask me... You can accomplish the same thing with $10 worth of wire and and a relay. :D

If you have any questions, just shoot me an email. -- email address removed --

kkaiser:

the 2001's use a switched ground to the headlight. you can accomplish the same thing, but more wiring to do. i converted my 2001 sport headlights. if evan doesn't answer, pm me, and i can give you the details.

I converted my 94. I didn't even connect the outside bulbs. The inside bulbs make plenty of light, much better than the old lights.

So where can you get 'em for $160 each? I haven't called Mopar4Less yet to see what they have 'em for, but I doubt it'd be any cheaper.

Also... where then would we go to get the HID conversion stuff?

Rob

Dodge quoted me $154 last week. I would like to find them from an aftermarket place and see what they would sell them for. Anyone know of an aftermarket supplier?

headlilghts

i had one of mine out, about a month ago--like a dummy i forgot to record the wagner number. the unit is a wagner, and the number is on the back of the headlight unit. this is for the sport unit. might run a search on the web. i intended to get the number, because i had a bulb explode (implode?). it scratched the surface of the reflector some, and i intended to try to find a replacement short of going to the dealer.

evan beck sent me th info on HID conversion. i can't find it but, i'm sure you could pm him for the info. my memory was the conversion cost about $600. i rewired my sport lights and got enough light down the road to decide to spend the money on performance mods rather than more lights.

:)

I just got a JC Whitney catalog the other day. It had HID conversions on sale, I think they were $600. 00.

RobG, the local dealer quoted me $160. 00 for the sport assys. Price goes on pretty much what they think they could get from you. Out in the country, it seems the prices are cheaper on many things. I've been pricing a BHAF around here, locally they want $55. 00-$60. 00. Most people on the board here seems to have gotten theird for under $40. 00!!

If the dealer is gouging you, do what I did. Get a tax number. :D

I have not been able to find the "Sport" headlights from any aftermarket supplier, only the standard light assembly. Anyone in the body part business know where to find the Sport assembly?

sport lights

i did a search after my last post. i was unable to come up with any source for wagner headlight assembllies. i did get distracted (as usual) by all the other info on lighting on the net. Sylvania has a HID kit available for the f150 pherd. i e-mailed 'em, to see if one for the ram aport is in the works. if i get any info from 'em, i'll post.

Mine are aftermarket - about $130 each side including bulbs (except parking light bulbs). Local independent parts house ordered them for me.

FOUND AFTERMARKET SPORT LIGHTS

I have located a local parts supplier who says he has the "sport" light assembly. Anyone interested in a group type purchase? They quoted me $105. 86 (body shop price). Don't know if they would come down anymore on the price. Let me know what you guys think. DEPO (Deer Point) lights are sold in the US by Maxzone Vehicle Lighting (maxzone.com) 626-286-5100. They do not sell to the public but will give you a local dealers name and phone number.

At $106 each, you could count me in on a pair!!!

Let me know where to send the $$$. :D

Does this include the turn signal lenses? They are different ya know. :D

Eric

Rnpeder, Cool!! Well I am definitely interested! There are a couple things you need to be sure of:

1) Find out what brand they are (the Stock Sport headlights are Depo brand)

2) Make sure it includes the clear side Turn Signal lenses

I found a supplier today that carries the Depo Sport headlamps. You can get the assembly with mounting hardware for $119 from http://www.headlightwarehouse.com

. They just started carrying this product and will take orders but will not have stock until next Thursday. They are based in Minnesota I believe. You can call them at 866-645-7122 9-5 Central time if you're interested.
