sport headlight assemblies

vaughn:

what year are you referring to when you say they are "Depo" brand? i had one of my 01. 5 assy's out about three weeks ago. in two places on it there were Wagner names and numbers. i forgot to write the numbers down while i had the unit out. possibly dc used different vendors for different years? maybe more than one vendor for the same year??

Herb, I was going by what JSimpson told me, he upgraded to Sport headlamps adn that's what brand his were. Also the Headlightwarehouse I just mentioned said they were Depo. Do you have any part numbers listed on your units? That could give us more to work with and maybe even find them for less $$.

Vaughn

The quoted them as DEPO brand, and the full assembly, blinker included. I will be going by to see them Monday. I will let you guys know. I will check and see if they will give me a better price on five or more pair.

I got mine from the dealer; they came in Mopar boxes and were Wagner brand. Never heard of "depo" Sounds like something out of the Marx bros. May be some kind of import. Careful!

sport lights

vaughn:

i could take one out again this weekend, i guess. i don't remember the number, BUT it definitely was branded Wagner. there were two Wagner brands and numbers on the assy. i think one of the numbers was for one part of the assy, and the other was for the whole assy. they're not too hard to take out. only problem is getting it out without scratching the paint of the bumper. if there is enough interest, i'll pull one in the am and post the numbers. i don't think i can get a mirror behind it in position to read the numbers. besides, i'm not sure i'm dyslexic enough to decode the number in mirror image. :D :D

Herb, mine are still in the box. I can get the numbers and post them in about 3-4 hours. Don't go scratching up your truck over it.

SilverStar Bulbs?

Does anyone know where Silverstar bulbs can be obtained from?

It appears they are not marketed in the U. S. A. Hmmmm... Any of our Canadian friends able to get their hands on these?

J. C. Whitney also lists Dodge Headlight Assys for approx $106

lights and bulbs

tommy:

thanx for coming in there. saves me the trouble of taking an assy out. i need the number, too. i had planned to record the number for future reference, but forgot.

fdziurda:

i was in contact with osram-sylvania this am. they e-mailed me that AutoZone and Advanced Auto Parts would be carrying the Silverstars about the first of Dec. i ran out for some parts at lunch, and the local Advanced place didn't have them yet. according to the website, these bulbs are the closest to the light temp of the HID of any halogen bulb made???

jhansen has just posted the DEPO numbers on another thread in the products and accessories forum. apparently they are an aftermarket part. my 01. 5 Sport has Wagner headlight assemblies in it as OEM. jason sounds happy with his DEPO's.

I'm sure they ARE imported, as is almost everything on the truck! But they can't be any worse than the factory units which are notorious for coming unglued, leaking, and having the mirroring peel off! Hey, if I didn't want anything imported on my cars, I'd have to find some really low mileage fifties models!!!

YES they are imported, from Taiwan, made by Min Yang Traffic and marketed in the US under Depo :

"Min Yang Traffic is set to introduce about 40 models of freeform lamps this year. Annually, the firm develops 120 headlamp models marketed under the DEPO brand. Established in 1977, the firm became public in 1997 and plans to join the stock market next year. "

It doesn't scare me though, should be decent quality.

I might add, another couple of common brands of sport/Euro headlamp assemblies is Crystal Light and APC. I contacted one of their vendors and they tell me they will have Euro headlamp kits for the Ram pickups very soon. He says they have gotten a lot of calls about it and they are finally responding to the demand. In the sport truck world, though, Rams are not nearly as popular as the Chevy C/Ks and F150s (and I think that is a GOOD thing :D ) which such lamps are available for.

Apologies for not getting this info here earlier. The longer I live, the shorter my memory gets!

These are the part numbers required for the conversion. I have these parts in hand and can verify their accuracy. Some additional screws may be required.

55077035AD LH Mtg Bracket

55077034AD RH Mtg Bracket

55077043AF LH Headlamp

55077042AF RH Headlamp

55077033AC LH Turn signal

55077032AC RH Turn signal

55077046AA Headlamp retainers Qty 2.

55077046AB Headlamp retainers Qty 2. Note: may be same as, or supercede of, 55077046AA.

04805147 Headlamp Vent Qty 2.

Two other part numbers of interest are:

55077024AF RH Headlight Assy

55077025AF LH Headlight Assy

These are suspected to include the headlamp, turn signal and mounting bracket, and may include the vents. MikeR in Seattle posted these numbers about 6 months ago; maybe if he reads this post, he can verify parts included in the assemblies.

At least two additional headlamp sockets will be required and can be purchased at UAP/NAPA and others.

Minor trimming of sheet metal is required on '94 to '98 trucks.

Are the aftermarket headlamps DOT approved?

Thanks redneckdr

Thanks for the tip redneckdr.

We have a new Autozone in Reno and will go take a look when I'm in town, later today. Thought I'd give the Silverstar's a try. I have the Cool Blue's in right now and they are better than stock.

I'm sure the Sports HLs would be the best way to go, but I don't do that much driving at night. The Silverstars and a homemade Brite Box should be pretty good.

superstars

frank:

i checked the autozone last night, here in town--no superstars. i talked to one of the other parts houses which carries some sylvania bulbs. the owner said there should be no reason he couldn't get the bulbs. he wanted to look into carrying the bulbs. if i get any more info, i'll let you know.

DEPO / Wagner lights

OK Guys, Bought a set af "Depo" sport lights today for $110 each after taxes. Got home and started looking them over REAL close. The mounting system says made in Taiwan, but the actual headlight and blinker assemblies say "Wagner" on the back. On the front, made into the lenses is even Chrysler/Dodges pentagon shaped emblem. These have to be the OEM lights. Havent put them in yet, but cant wait till the weekend. Gonna be sheering some sheet metal from the old goat. Maybe finally some REAL LIGHTS. The guy at the shop said he will continue to sell them to me for the same price. So if any of you guys are interested, I will list a dutch auction on EBAY and anyone interested can "bid" on them. No one go over $110 and you pay shipping. I wont be making money, just a secure way for you and me with the money. Protects BOTH of us. Guarentees I get the money, and guarentees that you get your lights. Let me know how many are interested. Email me at -- email address removed -- I will post some pictures or email them to anyone interested in the next few days, (have to get them developed and scanned)

Great work!

Rnpeder, way to go man! That is good to know those sound like the Real McCoy. At least it solves the Wagner vs. Depo mystery.

One question. . . did they come with any extra hardware or do you think they are physically the same and would just bolt right in? You don't have to answer that right away but of course I'm sure you'll let us know how the install goes.

Count me in as being interested.

Headlights

http://www.1001headlights.com/ is another headlight source I found. There only a dollar or two higher than headlightwarehouse for the light I need to replace. . Didn't see the sport lights though. I already had the drivers side replaced due to moisture now the passenger side the mirrow is getting dull.
