thomas, you and i agree. i simply chose to change the switched current at the lights to 12v+. i can think better with switched 12v+. also i added DRL with a Hamsar unit. it HAD to have switched 12v+. won't work with switched ground. i trigger the Hamsar unit with an oil pressure switch so the DRL don't come on til oil pressure comes up.
i don't care whether you continue to use switched ground or convert to switched 12v+. HEAVIER WIRE is the essential part of the upgrade. DC used mostly 18 and 20 ga wiring to the lights. that's dang near criminal. BIG VOLTAGE DROP TO THE LIGHTS. less light, and a fire hazard, imnsho.
edit: forgot to add: anyone who adds more filaments or puts in high output bulbs of higher wattage without heavier wire is risking his truck. the wires and sockets will get hot!!!!!! READ SMOKE!
