2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Sport Light Conversion

I know this has been beat to death and I have searched and found out almost everything I think I will need to do the mod on my 1999 2500.



I ordered a set of Sport Headlights from Importvision, a wiring harness from Suvlights and think I can do the job with all the information I got from my searches.



I have one final problem that I can't seem to get a clear answer for. Can I use a Brite Box from Geno's after I do the install? Do I need anything else with the Brite Box? Is the Brite Box worth the money or will I have enough light with just the new headlights? I know a lot of this is opinions and it is old stuff, but any help would be greatly appreciated.



I just did the starter mod with the kit supplied by Larry Buck at Foster Truck. What a great kit for the money; my starter is working "better" than new. I could not believe how much better the replacement parts were. The job is very easy and the instructions are very clear.



This forum has saved me a lot of money over the years.

IMHO, you won't need the Brite-Box. The sport lights are such a dramatic improvement that you'll be amazed at the amount of light you get out of 4 filaments burning at once. The Box, if I remember correctly runs all filaments at the same time (8) in the case of the sport lights. This is too much heat for the reflectors and will discolor and possibly start to melt the reflectors. My advice would be to just add the Sport lights and see how you like them. I've done a lot of mods, and it is my favorite. Good luck.

Wasn't sure but thought maybe it would be enough without the Brite Box.

You're gonna love it! It's a little intimidating at first but it's really a simple step by step install. To keep from scratching the black plastic top of your bumper, some have loosened the bolts and lowered the bumper just a bit to make access easier. If your bumper isn't aligned perfectly this is a great opportunity to take care of that too. PM me if you have any other questions. if you are handy you can rig up a simple harness to run the lights directly off the batteries though relays controlled by the stock wires, i did this to mine and got a small bump in output plus this took the load off the switch



depending on how you wire things up you can make the lights come on however you want

With the suvlights.com Dodge Ram (Sport Headlights) Super Heavy Duty Conversion Harness w/4 relays 9004 wiring harness, no Brite Box is needed. You get 4 low beams OR 4 high beams, harness direct wires to battery, mine has been in about a year now, no problems, great setup, VERY good lights now.

I recently added relays to my stock non-Sport headlights. The high beams are great now, but the low beams, which I need the most, still suck. I cannot figure why. . ?

Thanks again for all the help. I did not want to tackle the wiring without a ready made harness, it is my weak point.



I have a road armor bumper and I think the lights will clear with not problem.

I went the cheaper route today and got both headlight assebly's for $175 from the salvage yards in Anchorage, what else will I need from there other than a little cutting?

Still waiting on my headlights to get here. Wish I could of found some in a junk yard. Mine are supossed to get here on the 9th. Looking forward to seeing where I am going at night.

I think they have a different harness available for stock two bulb systems, give them a call, BUT I think the right harness would be a better solution.
