Sport Lights (OEM)

There has been a lot of interest in conversion from SLT to Sport lights. This is directed to you folks who have a truck that started life as a Sport (1999-2002). If you haven't rewired your lights with heavier wire and relays, you should consider it (DC used 18 and 20 ga wire to wire the lights--gimme a break!!!). there is a large voltage drop from the battery to the lights with the OEM setup. You will be amazed at the improvement in the amount of light should you BOMB the lights this way. PM me with the year of your truck and your e-mail address, and i'll send you the instructions.

i also like the Silverstars i put in after the rewire.

I wish you would have posted this a month ago..... I orderd two wire harnesses from suvlights.com to do just what you are suggesting. I too am going to add silverstars to make it just that much better. Have you done anyting with your factory fogs?? I founds some "white" bulbs for them that should at least make the bulb color the same as the silverstars.

john, i'm sorry. i rewired mine right after i bought the truck in june 2001. i have had instructions out there for about a year to upgrade the SLT to Sport, and to simply upgrade the SLT wiring, but just realized today that upgrading the wiring on an OEM Sport hadn't been addressed--at least not that i could remember.

fogs... i did rewire mine so i could have independent control, and ran heavier wire. i intended to upgrade the bulbs, but at this point i haven't. i want to put 50 watt "super whites" in there, too. just haven't taken time to pursue it. i expect when the first fog bulb burns out is when i do it--unless you come up with something you like a lot sooner.

I think I am just going to run the stock wattage (37. 5) super whites in my fogs as I use them mostly by themselves for daytime running lights. I have a set of LightForce's to light up the night when I need to.
