I'm down to the wire here on getting an '03. What is the difference between the sport and the regular in SLT besides the grill and bumpers? Anything else worth the extras? I'm thinking silver if I can get it.

Thanks.

My memory is going since I ordered mine, but I think with the Sport Package you also get fog lights, they are extra on the SLT. Maybe you get the tow hooks? The tow hooks may have come with the skid plates though.

I'm not sure about the fog lights, but there is a strange looking "Sport" emblem (I'd peel it off personally), and the aluminum looking wheel covers (instead of the chrome looking ones).

Basically, if you don't like chrome bumpers, get the sport.

I have the hood protection shield on my Silver truck and I think it looks nice. I had no "Sport" emblem on my 3500. Silver is a great choice of color:D :D .

Monochrome bumpers, monochrome grille surround, fake billet grille, fog lights, aluminum wheels on the SRW, delete bodyside molding, and less colors to choose from. I think that's the list. It doesn't have any badging that says Sport.

I love my Graphite Sport, I wouldn't of gotten anything else.

Does anyone out there have the Sport badge?

I know my friend's Sport had a goofy badge on it. I seem to remember it saying "sport" in lower-case, with red lines underneath it.

Came from the factory that way. This was back in October, his truck is black.

Bueller. Bueller? Anyone? Bueller?

I agree with fireman... the monochrome look is awesome, I wanted it, but not offered in green, figure if I have ever have enough disposeable money, I'll have my grill and bumpers painted green and have the only one like it??

Duck,

Is the Sport graphic an add on like on the HEMI? I think it I may have seen it as an accessory at the dealer's a few months ago. I have looked at many sports and never seen the logo on an '03.

i think the 2k2 1500's had the sport badge. my 03 1500 sport has no "sport" badge on it, or maybe the 2wd sports get them only? but i think it was a 2k2 item only

Ditto, Fireman ! :)

I owned a 1998 RAM 2500 4x4 CTD 12V Regular Cab, Flame Red Sport; a 2000 RAM 2500 4x4 CTD 24V Quad Cab SWB, Flame Red Sport; and now I have an '03 RAM 2500 4x4 CTD 24V Quad Cab SWB, Bright White Sport. Just call me a "Sport" freak ! I favor the lack of chrome and like the monochromatic look personally. The Front Hood Protection sets these trucks off even more. Just my $. 02 worth.

Like Nick said above - I've only seen the goofy 'sport' emblem on 2002 1500's. Likewise, the 2002s had the trim level on the B or C pillars - 'SLT' or 'Laramie' instead of 'sport'. All the 2003s have this moved to the lower right side of the tailgate. My 03 sport has an SLT tag on the tailgate. If it had that goofy 'sport' badge, it would have fallen off just like the door lettering did.

When I ordered my truck last fall, the sport package included the grill, fog lights, painted rear bumper, delete side moldings and the front fascia that includes the small black spoiler along the bottom.

gsbrockman,

Did ya get tired of Red? I had two Black Sports before this one, I was n't sure what color I wanted but I sure as sin didn't want Black again.

Fireman

Hey I,m a poet:D

Fireman :

Let's just say my better half got tired of Flame Red for me. To quote the better half :

"If you get ANOTHER red truck, no one will even realize you've traded. "

That's 'bout all I got to say 'bout that.

Maybe it was because I also bought new a 1995 RAM 1500 2wd Regular Cab... ... . and guess... ... it was Flame Red, too !

I guess three strikes----I'm out. :(

sport

I wish mine was a sport. But it's hard to get exactly what you want when you buy off the lot. I plan on powder coating the chrome on the front and back bumpers black. Paint the grill silver to match the paint. Get some nice black alloy wheels with cool little chrome rivets. One inch lift in the front, air bags and traction bars in the back. TST comp version, DD III injectors, DD turbo, and a South Bend or TST clutch. Ah, dreaming.

Yes it's really hard to get what you want off the lot with these trucks. I tried and tried and everytime a dealer located what I wanted, it was sold before they could get it.

I did get what I wanted on it, except I really wanted a 3500 SRW and settled for a 2500. But for what I do it won't matter anyway. It's just that I wanted a little more for a little more money.

I don't know about other years, but I have an 2001 2500 4x4 Sport with the "Sport" badge.

I don't have the window sticker handy, but as I recall, the "Sport" badge was an additional option to the tune of $100 or $150. All the other badges and lettering fell off the truck, but since I evidently paid extra for that one, I had to leave it on.

In 2000 - 2002 you could not get the heavier front springs or snow plow option with the sport. I would suggest asking the dealer but I doubt they really know anymore than is printed on the brochure :(
