Just wondering if anyone has one of those adjustacble spot lights that mount through the A pillar? Is this type possible on our trucks? I was looking at my A pillar tonight and can't tell if this would work. Anyone know about this? Thanks

The Michigan Dept of Natural Resources has a fleet of Dodge Ram gassers that I'm pretty sure all have the spotlight in the A pillar.

Not sure if this would work but.....

Probably check with your local PD fleet mechanics and see if they could help.

They show models for F150s and Explorers and Expeditions so my guess is this would work.

They also have an installation department. Couldn't hurt to call them and see what they say. Little hard for you to get to Atlanta for an install:p

The Unity is the top of the line as far as spotlights go. We use them on our fleet of bucket and digger derrick trucks. They are availible at Napa. They are not cheap though.

So does anyone have a spotlight mounted through the A pillar on a 2nd gen? Just curious because it doesn't seem to have much pillar space, the door seems to cover most if not all of it, then the windshield. I would have to move my gauges up higher too, to make room for the control handle.

AAAAHHHH!!!! I did want the Unity HID, but the friggin' thing is over a grand. I thing the 245,000 CP one is a lot more reasonable. I just about had to clean out my shorts!

On 2nd Gen trucks you'll have to mount it to the door OR notch the door and mount thru the A pillar like on 1st Gen trucks. I think it would be much easier to mount to the door(thats the only kit Unity has for 2nd Gen anyway) the only problem is if you have the spotlight aimed on someone/thing and you open the door the light beam 'swings' away. I haven't attempted installation yet but the one on my old '86 and '90 W250s worked great.

The whole light and control handle move with the door..... Its really not as bad as it sounds..... you can move the light by hand from outside of the truck by grabing the light head..... but i use it mostly from in the truck..... Its REAL bright. Install is easy..... they supply a drill bushing that you put IN the pretty chrome mounting brack and that is you guide from drilling... ... I'll take some close up pics of it in the morning and post them.

Pictures as promised... ...

The light head can rotate 360deg as there are NO wires running outside of the truck. The power runs doen a rod in the center of the rod and the rod provides ground so its only a one wire hook up. The rod can rotate 45deg (you choose the 45deg of rotaition)

It has never leaked no it does not whistle at high speed. I have been thinking about adding one on the pass side.
