spray in or roll on bedliner

The bed of my truck is REALLY scratched up. I want either a spray in $$$ or roll on beliner. Anyone have any experience with either? I've seen the roll on kits for like $50, and the spray in stuff i've heard is around 400 for a long bed. What would you guys suggest? thanks

I rolled Herculiner in the floor board and cargo area of a off road vehicle I used to have. It was alot of hard prep work and even though a I put on three coats, the final product was pretty thin. It worked great for that purpose, but there is no way I would do my truck bed with it.

Spray in bed liners are tough as crap and are warrantied. I like the TUFF liner in my 98. I got it out in Dallas. I don't think they are nation wide. The rhinoliners I've seen are too hard, IMO.

2ndgen has it right get line-x i haven't been able to scratch it up and it's been in my truck for a couple years now. If you ever did get it messed up they fix it for free.

Scheibins, what do you mean by too hard? Will it chip, is it too slick? Just wondering, a friend offered the spray in rhino for $250, your comment makes me wonder.

I can't speak for longevity yet but of all the spray in liner's I've seen Rhino is tops as far as I am concerned. It is thick and flexible and has a great grippiness to it that most others liners I've seen do not. My truck has the Rhino and I could't be happier. I will say though you need to make sure you find a experienced installer regardless which one you go with as this can make all the difference in the world.

I agree, I put the Rhino lining in mine after 4 months of owning the truck, and I love it. Been in for 2 years, has faded a little but still tough as nails. If you can get it done for $250, that is less than 1/2 what I paid, I would run with it.

I'd invest in a good spray-in liner. I like Line-X myself. You have a nice truck, so it's worth the $.

I'll vote for the Rhino. I've had it in 2 trucks and danged if I've ever seen anything hurt it, and I've tried - - Hard.



When it fades (and it will) you can either get the Rhino stuff to make it look new again, it lasts a long time. Or you can use the same stuff you use on tires, but it lasts just a little longer than it does on your tires.



Mine was just over $400. 00, $250. 00 is a great price. BTW, the first one I had done was in the mid 90's and was the same price, so that's a great deal.



The Herculiner around here goes for $100. 00 bucks for enough to do an 8' bed, but like it was said above, it is very thin, and will NOT protect like the Rhino, plus you get to do the prep, do it less than perfect, you'll really not like the results.

Combat Liner

I have a spray in liner over the rails by Combat. I'm very pleased with it in my 2004. This is the first spray in liner that I've ever had so I can't compare it to the others. The liner was already installed when I bought the truck off the lot.



My 2001 has a Bedrug in it. I really like that liner as well. Bedrug was easy to clean, never stained, and looks plush. My Uncle has a Bedrug liner with his hard top fiberglass tonneau cover -- it looks really sweet!!

I have a Arma Coat spray on liner on my truck. I really like it. Its applied hot like Line-X, so it looks smoother then a Rhino lining.



The most important thing (it doesn't mater what brand you get) is that the bed is prepared correctly (It took 2 people 4 hours each to do my long bed over the rail). If it isn't prepared properly, it will probaby start peeling. Check with a few dealers if possible to see how good and neat a job they do. And check on their warranty (I think the Rhino warranty is not nationwide and is only good at the dealer who put in on). Good luck. KL

i have no experience with rino liners, but in my opinion, the finnished products are about equal, although i like the texture, and the aplication of the line x alot more than anything else i have seen on the market. they run about 400$ around my house .

I did the roll on liner and its ok. But Line-X is what I should have done.

Permatech won't fade like other liners. I had one in my last truck and loved it. It has UV protection built in.

Spray-in bed liners... whew, too many to choose from. I've had experience with four different manufactures, Bullet Proof, Rhino Lining, Arma Coat, and Grizzly Guard. Results as follows:



Bullet Proof - sprayed by Dodge dealer and is rough as sandpaper and tough as nails. Plastic containers will slide around on it, so will need a rubber bed mat. Caution: don't roll around naked (bare skinned) on this stuff.



Rhino Lining - a little more flexible material, but things (plastic) won't slide. Couldn't get cardboard boxes to slide on it. However, UV does make it fade and petroleum products/road salts will degrade bed liner.



Arma Coat - material is somewhere between two listed above. Held up well when used on decking of boat.



Grizzly Guard - this material is used to seal the inside of steel tanks that hold petroleum products, or so I was told. It worked well on my truck rocker panels. Didn't fade, cleaned up easy, and the chemicals used to melt snow/ice on roadways in Alaska didn't effect the material.



Guess it depends on what the intended use is... good luck

i have one roll on and three line-x. do not wast your money on the roll on, it is to thin. any, even the cheap spray ons are best.

Spray-in..... had it done before taking delivery of the '01 long bed quad I own..... tough and guaranteed (Line-x).....

Some of the roll on stuff is thin, and some say it feels "rubbery"... . anyway, I recomend the spray in.....

You get what you pay for. Linex is Great been on about one year

still looks great.
