The Herculiner, and other do it yourself linners, do not seem to have the thickness of the commerical products like Rhino. A friend has the Rhino linner and it's 1/4" thick. That might reduce dents.

The Motor Week show said it cost about $400, but they are quoting $600 in this area.
What's the going rate in your part of the country?

Line-X quoted me $510. for an over-the-rail job, $90. less for an under-the-rail job last year when I had my '98. 5 Ram sprayed. The Fleet Manager I purchased my Ram from got me the long deal of $299. for an over-the-rail job, at the same dealer! I also requested that they "lay it on thick", to which, they did. I had my Ram sprayed in Western, WA. (the good Washington).

Also, I even had it color matched to my Sport/Ram at no extra cost... BLACK! Heh,heh, heh

$435. 00 bay are price. $400. 00 for below the rails.

It is thick, after they spray it on and remove the masking stuff, they trim the edge with the same color material and a caulking gun. You would have and ugly 1/4 inch lip otherwise.

One added advantage of spray on vs regular liner: can use stock 2x10 partitions. This benefit jumped out at me when I saw my aunt's plastic liner.

I put a 2x6 in the rear one and it keeps my groceries, etc from sliding forward. When I get home everything is next to the tailgate, I don't have to climb into the bed to get at that case of beer.

On my trip to BC to pick up my Bigfoot I built a 10 inch high platform and "hid" all my gear under it. Using fork width 2x4's and extra wheel skewers, I mounted my bicycles on top of this platform. Using a tarp, the bikes and bed walls made a perfect "tent" when I got tired of sleeping in the cab.

Tharpe, With the prices this close, I'd recommend you go to the guys who seem to have the best looking shop, and are the friendliest to deal with. When I was younger, I'd drive 50 miles to save 5 bucks. Times are a changing, and service is now the key. Go where they will take good care of you. Good luck !!

at work today they brought in the local Linex guy to experiment with his coating for another purpose so i ask him if he was giving a discount and he said sure and gave me a card and quoted a price of 330 dollars for under rail on 8 ft bed. his wife quoted a price of 400 dollars 2 weeks ago. Arnie

I have a Speedliner spray in bedliner. They matched the color of my truck (flame red) really well. I'm very happy with it and Speedliner claims to be the toughest and most flexible of spray-on bedliners. Under the rail or over the rail was $400 here locally. I've drug slate quoit boards and hauled about 1000 lbs of wood with this liner. Other than being a little dirty, it hasn't shown any knicks or wear. I'd highly recommend it, since the price is competitive with the other popular spray-ins. Speedliner info can be found by going to www.speedliner.com and following the links. Spray in is definitely the way to go over the slide-in bedliners. Tougher and you don't have to worry about your bed rusting out prematurely.

My spray in was by TOFF. I liked the liner very well. There was the fade problem, but there is stuff you can get to help. I will go with them or Rhino on my new truck, but haven't decided which one as the dealer told me they are the same price.

I gots Ultimate sprayon and the dealer place couldnt do over the tailgate yet. Took it to the other place in Albuquerque NM and they did the tailgate top for 25$. Color is different but since the gate is only for awhile I want the protection. Lifetime warranty and they could layover another coat if necessary. Total dealer cost was 463$ for over the rail minus the taigate (needed special jig to hold tailgate for the over the top and the other shop needs to bulid one). I'm happy.

By the way its just a little darker than the driftwood and they said it won't fade or very little, fixed the fading problem a few years ago.

Good job Tharpe
I just found a neat product which I will purchase again. It is made by Turtle wax as a tire dressing i. e. , no touch or armorall. It's called Wet and Black. It advertises a wet look when used on tires. I sprayed the Rhino with it and It really made it look new again. Mine was graying since it is always in the sun (no shell). This is fast and easy. The other stuff I have used is Back to Black, put this Turtle wax product is better.

I almost got my bed sprayed with Rhino Liner but a real experienced accessory business talked me into a BED RUG. I'm sure glad I made this choice. It is so nice to crawl on with my aching knees, won't scratch the bed, insulates the bed, and keeps the bed from getting dents when throwing fire wood in it. A high pressre washer cleans it fine and dries in 20 minutes. It will not hold diesel fuel stink or gas stink. There are dealers that will give you a $100 deduct with a spray liner because once the bed dents thru the liner it makes it next to the impossible to fix. This is the greatest invention above the spray on liners. It has a fantastic guarantee. The Steel Horse Liner is an inferior product compared to the BED RUG. It is comfortable enough to take a nap on and is the greatest thing for dogs also!

This is another item on the wish list. On my previous truck (92'Dodge CC Cummins) I had the Arma Coating and loved it. The neighbor has the Linex brand and I can't tell the difference. I have heard that the Rhino and other coatings that are sprayed on cold have a tendency to fade and crack were as the ones that are sprayed hot do not. Another name I have heard about is Speedliner. http://www.armacoatings.com/ http://www.line-x.com/ http://www.speedliner.com/

I like John Berger have the Speedliner and am very happy with it, cost 4 bills to install and it does carry a lifetime warranty. And just like John I have carried everything from farm chemicals to lumber without any problems and the material is very slip resisitant.

I put in a Rhino Liner aftermarket. Best thing I could have done. Basic black works well with the candy apple red of the truck. The anti slip and ding protection is great and it doesn't ride up like a cheep flat liner.

stirring up an old topic , just called line-x in Bow N. H. , 395. 00 over the rail , thats in black , say they can spray it in colors but probably twice the price due to labor involved in cleaning the machine twice once to put in your color and then to go back to black , was thinking of doing the rockers but not sure how the driftwood w/ black 2 tone will look , will have to get mudflaps right away i guess

I'm gonna use Dupli-Color's $50 kit. As a matter of fact, I'll probably use TWO kits and lay it on thick. Can't see paying $-600 for what I ca do myself for $100. Too cheap, I guess!

jsimpson,
My Rhino job was 1/4" on the bottom, 1/8" on the sides. I'll bet it'll take more than $50 to get that thick.

I saw a thin spray in liner job that is a few yrs old the other day. It's chipping away. Very fuguly. The Rhino or LineX is worth the $ & won't wear out. They really prep the surfaces.
