My 95 2500 4wd ,I was told by Chrysler corp that the spring tower recall did not apply to me because my truck was to old by one month. Well the right side tore out almost comepletely and was resting against the turbo. One more hard bump and it would have broken apart and that could have been a disaster. Has any body had this problem with your truck being to old for the recall. Also does anybody know somewone to contact because it cost $953. 00 to fix this and I thought that Chrysler should have paid for this. The front end was stock and had not been lifted. It was my only vechicle and I had to get my truck fixed. I have not been offroad for over a year. I wonder how many people out there that are before the recall that will not be so lucky to find it before the tire disapears in the fenderwell. Mine was leaning just a little. Steve Fyfe

I fought with them on this too, they said mine was to new, both sides were cracked and the drivers side was as yours, I thought I had a loose shock until I inspected it. Dodge had my truck for a week before they denied it because of the lift. I ended up welding it back and adding a support all the way around the perch, its way better than they would have done and only cost 20 bucks.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

they did the recall on my 94 (build date 5-94)

My left side did not have any cracks at all. It took about 60 miles to tear it off on the street. When the 33 started rubing the fender well just a little, I ordered a leveling kit for the front end that would lift it 2in in the front. When I went to pick it up that I saw the right front corner was leaning to much. If I could of bought these parts to fix this, I would have fixed it my self. Dodge told me that they would not sell the parts to me because of the liability.

Could someone tell me the recall number on this and perhaps the build-date crossover? Mine was a 3/95 build; might be OK, but I'd hate to find out the hard way...

Kodiak,

I got a notice from my dealer about it sometime last year and got it fixed. They did a great job and were done in three hours. My build date is 3/14/95. I was a bit surprised by that since that was my birthday. If my dealer can take care of a March '95 your's should also without any hassle.

I was told that my truck was to old one month. Mine was built on 5/95 and chrysler told me if it was built in 6/95 it would have been covered. Steve Fyfe

Cummins Hobbist,

I don't have the paper work on mine anymore so I can't point my finger at it. However, my dealer got hold of me by mail to come in to make an appointment to get the work done. That's how I first heard of the recall. They looked up my VIN before they got in touch with me.

I just printed out the NHTSA CAMPAIN on the suspension independant front shock absorber. It says, all 2500 series and 3500 series regular cab pickups produced before march 21 of 1995. I think they need to extend that time. 2500+ 3500 club cabs produced before june 8 of 95, and all 3500 2wd and 4x4 before june 21 95. I will talk to them and tell them that trucks later than their recall are still having the same problems. I will report on progress. If anybody else has paid for this repair and they would not pay for it,I need some amno to talk to these people and maybe I can get chrysler to pay for it! Steve Fyfe

HEY, DO NOT TAKE ANY CRAP FROM THOSE A$$HOLES. I have a '95 3500 2WD... NOT COVERED BY RECALL, ITS IFS NOT COIL & LINK. The towers were hanging by a thread. DC replaced my ENTIRE FRAME, why? my guess is they are scared of LIABILITY! They did the work under a "customer satisfaction" action. BE ASSERTIVE, YOU BOUGHT A TRUCK THAT THEY BUILT AND IT FAILED! I DID NOT PAY A CENT!

Build Date 12/93. Has '93 emission sticker. Came without a catalytic convertor. Had recall done last fall.

Joe G. , I'd be concerned if they completed it in 3 hours. The book rate was (I think) 8. I used to be a weldor and wasn't too impressed with the quality of work by the "specialist" at the local 5 gar. I will probably end up touching up a couple spots myself. You might want to give it a close look see. I hope I'm wrong.

What are the symptoms of a cracked spring bucket? I have a '95 4X2 with 200,000+ miles, I have a "thump" in the front end when I come to a stop and when I pull out. I can feel this "thump" in the steering, brakes, and by the "seat of pants". I have had a local alignment shop look for the problem twice with no results. Do you think I am in trouble?
Thanks,
Keith
BTW- I am a new member (and a new -to me- owner) and i don't know squat about diesels, so I am really looking forward to learning from you all.

It took 8 hours to do the work. Replaced one spring bucket and welded reinforcements on both sides. The left side was not cracked before they got it. Also it ripped from the bottom of the back to the top and then down the front in 2 weeks. I started to hear the tire rubbing the fenderwell. Steve Fyfe

Extreme1,

The book rate for the job is 8 hours if the towers are cracked and have to be replaced. Mine were ok so only the reinforcment brackets were needed. The welds look first rate. Nice and smooth with no rough spots or voids.

Joe G. : You Lucky Dog!

CH: I guess it's worth trying to get the repair covered, good luck. I wonder why the change of dates? They inspected mine and added the reinforcements, the covered other "newer" 95's, more DC logic?

K. Whitlow: Welcome to the TDR! I think you are in trouble! BOMBitis will set in soon. Check the brake pads, one might have too much clearance to the caliper. Have your wife/sig other make the truck do it while you walk along out side and look/listen.

D. C. did my 94 (build date of 11-93). Local “5 star” did a good job (they had a good service manager and service Dept. then). No problems.
