Spring pack spacer removal

Has anyone, that has removed the 2 spacers between the axle spring perch and spring pack experienced any adverse affects. Going to remove mine soon to help level my fiver. Have the proceedures thanks to Klenger. His site is great isn't it Oo. I must have missed the torgue on the U bolts. Does anyone know that?

Nada, none, zero, zilch, nul, 0, no problems with mine. It's a cheap mod at twice the price.

Dropped it today. It lowered the back by 1 3/4 inches Oo. I also lost the launch shudder :--) It has a total different feeling. It's great The bed rails are now identical height as my friends 99 CTD 4x4.



Eager to see what happens when I put a load on it. Will the shudder come back???

if i have some spare time today, i think i will lower the tail a bit too by removing the spacers [i want a more level look, not so raked as it is now... ]

I did the same thing in order to gain clearance to haul my gooseneck enclosed car trailer(drw 3500). Don't know how much tongue weight you have, but one thing you may want to check is how close the frame bumpers get to the rearend housing once you have your rig completely loaded and ready to go. With my car trailer (trailer weight between 10 &12,000 lbs) the bumper was with in 1/4 inch of the axle housing and made for a real hard ride the first time. I ended up using a sawsall on the bumpers to gain clearance, but something is still hitting on large bumps.

Clearance isn't much of an issue now with my 6400lb fiver. Have 4 1/4 inches between the snubber and axle housing and the hitch only goes down 5/8 inch hitched up. That isn't loaded but shouldn't make much difference. I will definately pay attention to clearances when I add more weight.



The ride is great and the launch shudder hasn't come back and it's day two. I'm going for a ride, bye
