3" of snow on the CTD this am with more on the way as it is dumping out as I type (8:15 am MST) You know it spring time when two cars (probably Texans:D ) are nuzzled up to a FedEx truck jack knifed off the road. Chain law in effect on Vail Pass with many cars and semis spun off to the side. 6" more at the beach last night- looks like we'll be skiing in July!Oo. Oo. Oo.

Springtime in the Rockies consists of rocks coming down and blocking my tracks :( In the Glenwood Canyon, Gore Canyon, Fraser Canyon, and sometimes Byers Canyon. When you get rocks down in several locations then it makes for one busy night... ..... some are small some are large..... just another daily occurence of railroading through the Rockies... ... ... . I'll have to check the weather tonight when I get in and see how much snow Winter Park has gotten... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

SPRING TIME IN THE SIERRAS:

they are predicting another 2 to 3 feet of snow in the Tahoe basin this weekend... ... ...

Monday afternoon commute home, I was listening to the traffic reporter in the plane over Sacramento, saying he was having to drop elevation in the plane, because at 2000 foot elevation over Sacramento, he was flying in a snowstorm.

How come the closer it gets to summer, the colder it is getting around here?

normally, we get 18 inches of rain fall for the entire year here in Sac town.....

this weekend we are supposed to get two inches alone!

Yea, Baby!!!!

30" reported at the BasinOo. Oo. Oo. We will be skiing in July, but not today:{ Loveland pass is closed and I-70 east from Frisco is also closed. Did'nt look too promising up Vail Pass either. What a great spring this is turning out to be!

Hey KD- never thought how the rocks impact your job. Must be some good dingers you get to see. Must be fun plowing some of your routes. I know the scenery is something else. There is a cool old rotor plow at the entrance of Boreas Pass on permanent display. Jeez- that thing must be 12 feet in diameter!

Come on, plow boy and do your job... there in some mojor POW out there just waitin' Oo. Oo. Oo.

You think that stuff will still be around Memorial Day weekend? Wife and I will be up in Vail then... hoping to see some snow and get away from Houston.

Maybe.

Southeast Texans don't get to see much snow at all unless we go somewhere else!

Yes! Snow Oo. Oo. Oo. We are planning on skiing the beach on the 4th of July!.

Duane- if you are going to Vail from Denver (via I-70), then consider taking Loveland Pass over the divide instead of going thru the Eisenhower Tunnel. You'll go right by Arapahoe Basin (aka: A- Basin, the Beach. ) It has some great views.

Edit: It's snowing off and on today with the forcast for more thu- out the week. How much remains to be seen.
