My brother in law runs a plumbing business. His work truck died last week. He is looking for either a Sprinter or a 3500 Chassis cab. He would like a box on the back. We are in southern California. Does anyone have any experience with a good dealer around this area? Also, what would it cost to have an outfitter add a box to one? We saw a sprinter in New Jersey that had a box added on the back but havent seen any on the west coast when looking online. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Sprinter.

I can only report that my buddy who has a "diesel dialysis" business, operates out of a '05 2500 Sprinter five cyl. diesel. With the exception of an intercooler hose that blows out on them it has never been back to the dealer except for routine maintenance. He averages 22mpg. Lots of outfitter equipment available. Rancho is the only dealer that I'm aware of here. Kinda shaky service.

If he isn't going to be towing, get a sprinter. They drive much better than our rams and get better fuel economy. I also like the ability to have standing headroom inside to work. We have them at school and they have held up infinitely better than any of the other vans we had before them.

Thanks for the replies. He's not going to tow and he is leaning towards the sprinter with a custom fitted box on the back. Bajabob, I agree with you on Rancho. In fact, he already went down there and was treated poorly by the sales staff.

I was also concerned that if he buys one in LA and then needs it serviced, is Rancho the only one in town that can do that or can he go to a Mercedes or Freightliner dealer?
