has anyone mounted a sps-66 on top replacing the hx-40-16 in there piers set up, using piers hot pipe to connect the two together, i want a 66-14 on top... . i am not sure if it can be done without a custom hot pipe... :cool:
 
A 66 is too much turbo above the 3B. I've got a 64 secondary in mine and it's all that I want. I wouldn't run a 66 above anything smaller than a HT60.

Just wanted to say that our SPS62 is a nice performing turbo that has very low drive pressure. This turbo would do well in the twin set up that you refer to. Drive pressures on twins usually runs a little higher than a single so the extra help with drive pressure would be welcome in this situation. The Super Phat Shaft 66 moves a lot of air and would push the HT3B. The Phat Shaft turbos would fit right in to the twins, and the hot pipe should work. The Super Phat Shaft 64 also moves a lot of air but not as much as the SPS66. It all depends on what you are trying to do with your truck. The dual waste gate that is used on all of the Phat Shaft turbos will let you have a lot of control on total boost pressure. We have a spacer plate to open the waste gates further and that gives you more control. Even the Phat Shaft 62 would work and you should be happy with that choice also. The S300 or super phat shaft or sled puller or cool twist or bomber series turbo (s) are all derived from a S300 that came on a 10 liter motor.



How is it accurate to say that a modified S300 will flow as much as a turbo that is made for a 14 liter motor?

Keep in mind the 3B is an OLD design that was made for a 14 liter engine. Look at the diffrence between and H1C and an HX35. Both the same size, heck you can interchange exhaust housings but there's a world of diffrence on the performance end.
 
The Super Phat Shaft 66 has as you know a 66mm wheel. The turbine side of this turbo is also as large as can be fitted in the turbine housing. A K31 turbo that fits a series 60 detroit engine has been tested and the rotating components have been installed in a SPS 66 and have been tested. The result was the SPS 66 made the K31 rotating parts, developed less hp. and there were surging issues that we could not get rid of. Yes the Super Phat Shaft 66 is in the sweet spot and pushes more air. Has little to no surging. If you want to know more please call me at 1-800-955-0476 Brady

For some reason I have a hard time believing the SPS66 flows the same air as an HT3b.



If that is the case I can build a wicked set of towing twins using it as a primary :D

As for the housing... The SPS has a . 80 a/r housing. Since there is really no way to convert air ratios to square centimeters, you just have to throw doo at the wall and swing it.



. 80 a/r or about 2. 29 square inches equates to about 14. 77 cm



The turbine housing on my BHT3B is a 22, or 26 (just depends on my mood that day :) )





The 26 cm housing is 43. 2% bigger then the 14. 77. The BHT3B also has a true 5" outlet, the SPS has a 3. 75"???



Brady, you guys are using a housing about equal to the . 80 right?

The Phat Shaft 66 on top and something large on bottom(like my Big Brother) is no laughing matter in the HP department but actually works very well in the low HP department too, I just think that you would like the 62 better.

I agree as well. I have a 62/s400 and it works great. Spools great and moves a lot of air.
