I’ve searched the site, but have not found a good match for the problem...

1994 222K, Banks Git Kit and air filter installed 2 years ago.

Prime_Loc Remote Fuel Filter System. Fleetgaurd fuel filter (changed every 20K)

Fuel return line replaced about a year ago with braided steel racing line.

A few days ago I parked (engine off) for about 45 minutes after having driven about 10 miles. The truck has always started immediately, but it took about 3 seconds to crank. It then ran very rough. I pulled out and the sputtering continued. After about a mile she hiccoughed pretty heavy twice and then all was well.

I have run her about 30 miles since and no problems. But I am wondering what the cause was: a symptom of some serious failure about to occur, or just an ephemeral problem due to contamination either from the air intake or in the fuel line.

Any suggestions appreciated. .

My guess is air in the fuel. It could be a sticky ck. valve in the lift pump. An overflow valve that didn't close completely or a myriad of other things.

It could also be a shut off soleniod that opened enough for cranking/low speeds, but wouldn't allow for full fueling and it finally opened up more completely, which allowed the sputtering to go away and it to run clean/well.

Next time it acts up hop out and ck. for the shut off soleniod retracted up fully. If thats ok, shut it down and press the primer bulb 10-15 times and see if that helps, if so you had likely lost prime.

Let us know. Good luck.
