Squeak in Front End While Turning--Gone!!

There have been several threads (including an earlier one of mine) that discussed an annoying squeaking noise in the steering that occurs only while turning and going over bumps.



I am pleased to report that when my clockspring failed, the noise abated a great deal, and when the clockspring was replaced, the noise has gone away completely.



While it is not for certain that all the noises reported involve the clockspring, it is obvious that mine did.

What does this stupid spring do?



I have the same squeek in my truck and I'm not to happy about it.

Jon, You should have gotten a recall notice on the clock spring. Wade got one for his 2001 the next day his spring broke. Its the spring that allows the airbag, cruise and radio to function while you turn the wheel.
