I have been noticing some squealing and squeaking from what seems like my clutch or trans (NV5600). It is most noticeable when I am driving by a wall or something for the sound to bounce off of. The squeak can be reproduced when in 1st, 2nd or 3rd, and is most pronounced if I rapidly let off the throttle, which causes a bit of a lurch. It almost sounds like the brakes are dragging, but why would this only happen when the transmission is engaged? If I depress the clutch pedal, I get no squeaks or squeals while coasting.

Things recently done to the truck (within the last few weeks, and the squeaks happened after these):

Installed inverted T front end

Installed DSS

Installed 3rd gen track bar

Got an alignment

New brake pads on the front

Adjusted rear brakes since my parking brake wasn't holding very well.

Rebuilt vaccum pump and new power steering pump

The clutch isn't slipping, and pedal effort is the same as it has always been. I'm stumped.

I just did my clutch because I thought it slipped once or twice. Inspection revealed that my original clutch did not show much of a slippage sign, but the throw out bearing had one retainer clip that was broke and the clip that holds one end of the shift fork was also broke. The throw out bearing was showing signs of pushing harder on one side of the preasure plate than the other.

I did not notice any noises associated with this failure.

Is there any way to inspect the clutch and throw out bearing on a NV5600 without dropping the trans? I looked around down there, and couldn't see anything.

WardJ, are you thinking maybe the U-joints on my front axle? Any way to test those?

Thanks guys, this squeak is driving me nuts. I'm about to head up into Yellowstone for a little late season camping with my truck camper, and this unknown noise is putting a cloud over my confidence in my truck.

that's what I figured. Well, guess I'll be doing that after I get back from my trip, since I don't have time to do that by Friday. This will be my excuse to upgrade the clutch since it will all be apart anyway!

It seems the squeak isn't quite as bad when the weather is warm. We've had a couple 70+ degree days, and I haven't heard it nearly has much nor as loud, but it is still there a little.

Any more ideas out there would be great!

mine did that for a few weeks then all of the sudden at a stop light let out clutch and the throw out bearing was gone. removed transmission and found it laying in pieaces. it sure is a small bearing for that size transmission:mad:the balls inside it are not much bigger then BBs for a red rider:eek:
