Took into DLR for squeaky rear brakes while going down road. If I touched the brake pedal the noise would go away. It sounded like I was draging chains. The service writer hands me a paper from DC with all the excusable disc brake noises. I read everyone and was in agreement with what DC was saying but polietly told the service writer that he hadn't listened to what I said. They said a pad had seperated from the backing plate so they machined my rear rotors and replaced the rear pads. One week later the front brakes do the same thing. Squeak while going down the road only a lot louder. You could only hear the noise with the R window down. When I applied light pressure or turned the wheel the noise would dissapear. Took it back to the Dlr 2 weeks later for the fronts and they said they were ok. I also noticed when I rotated my tires the R lwr ball joint had up and down movement. I checked the other ones and they had no movement so I asked them to check the R lwr ball joint. Well they don't call so I do, the generic person in service said the truck was done. I had felt pretty good about this dealers service and confident that they adressed the issues correctly. Well when I picked up the truck the repair order stated no problems found and refered to that DC excuse paper. Next morning I pulled the front wheels and pads, ck'd rotors the works, the damn thing was squeaking as I rotated it with my hand. I found that 3 of the 4 pads were seperating from the backing plates in one degree or an other. There was a grundle of material left they were by no means worn or overheated. Some may disagee but I don't feel it was dangerous just annoying. Anyway called the service writer and explained to him where the bear ****s. He gave me a set of pads and I installed them myself. I gave him the old ones( the sob is probably getting paid the labor). At least I know the job got done correctly. The idiot was also wearing a print silky type shirt with Chevrolet symbols and cars all over it, not downing chevys just out of place on a service writer for a Dodge dealer. I don't have the specs on the ball joints. I'll get the spec's and ck them the next time I LOF. If you have squeaky brakes don't let your dlr BS you. I've got about 25,000 miles on the truck.
