Squeaky transfer case shifter

Have noticed a squeak in my new 2005 CTD DWR truck. I have traced it to the transfer case shifter lever. If I put pressure on the lever it will disappear. Putting it into 4H and then back to 2H helps for a little while. Any suggestions?

pop the 4x4 shifter boot off and spray a little silicon spray lube under it???

Also crawl under the truck and shoot the linkage with some white lithium grease.
